My personal experience with achieving success was in high school. My senior year was the most difficult year of all because of all the college applications and taking many tests and not missing deadlines were stressing me out, dance rehearsals were getting much more difficult since I couldn’t focus anymore, I wasn’t able to pick up choreography as quick and that would cause me to get frustrated. I wasn’t getting any rest. I did not do homework for about two weeks straight and saw how badly it affected my GPA. I was so close to quitting everything I couldn’t take it anymore all I wanted to do was rest for a long time and not have to worry about anything.…

I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been hungry to learn. I picked up my first chapter book as soon as I possibly could, I constantly wrote stories, and even more often I told them. However, it wasn’t until high school that I truly found who I was as a student. I always enjoyed learning within the walls of my comfortable high school, yet I didn’t know what it was like to venture outside of the classroom and learn in ways that would help me to grow as a student and as a person. Junior year I began to take courses that really challenged me and I became an avid participant in the Interact Club, or community service club.…

I always have followed the saying “if you work hard in life now you will not have to work as hard later.” This saying applies not only to how I work during school now, but how I participate in activities outside of school. To excel in what you want to achieve in life, I believe you need to put in the best effort and try your best in whatever you do. Living by this idea has helped me become a leader in the things I do. It has helped me put others at the same standard as myself and it helps me show my character.…

High school came to an end May 15 for me, and I believed college wouldn't be much different, but I wasn't entirely correct. Many things changed which I had to accustom myself to, from living on my own, to making sure I ate correctly, but little did I know that I would have to change my study habits. For as long as I can recall, I have been using the same study habits throughout high school. I believed and was taught to memorize, but I also realized that even though I would pass my test with flying colors, I would find myself forgetting a majority of what I had memorized a month and or a week ago. Now that I am aware that the technique used in high school, will no longer apply in my college years, and years to come.…

    1. An eager and motivated learner takes on the initiative to progress through their studies, without the need to be prodded along by either external rewards, or outside individuals. This type of learner looks at the long-term goals/effects of their education, and presses on towards them no matter the apparent obstacles or shortcomings. 2. Two Personal Strengths as a Student: Even when not asked to, I seek out additional tools to help me study in a more effective, streamlined, and organized way as I embark on my learning journey. I look for ways to improve my future works, both from peer feedback and personal assessments on my current works.…

My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’, they wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job.…

An accomplishment that i'm very proud of is the way how i grew out of boy and into a man. When i first got into high school i was sort of overwhelmed with trying to fit in. I cared so much of trying to fit in within certain types of people, that I had lost focus on many things especially my grades and school. After noticing a enormous drop off of my grades and myself, I desperately tried to improve myself because i felt like i was disappointing my future self and my family. But because I tried to desperately try to improve myself anyway, I took big steps instead of little steps to help open the door of improvement.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

Imagine a small, thin girl with poofy hair and short bangs to match her short attention span; she’s like a jumpy squirrel trying to be everywhere at one time. Back in the summer of 2011, I was that small girl, a mere eleven-year-old caught in the troubles of adolescence. Just at the end of my preteen years but just starting my teenage years, I was in an awkward position. I wanted to live on my own terms but I didn’t want to disobey my parents either.…
