Personal Narrative: Why I Love To Go To The Gym

Decent Essays
I love to go to the gym every weekend to work of cheers or my competition routines or my technique. Even though I have a bone tumor I still push myself to get better and my mom doesn't like me doing cheer but only I know when to stop and when enough is enough. When im not at the gym im home working on my strength or on cheer routines for my team or just for myself. I also love to go to the quarts to go play so basketball. That's honestly my sport but it's very hard for me sometimes because all the running and most of the time my knee gives out or it locks but I still work to my hardest and I make myself better as a point guard.

It was the beginning of high school, the start of a new chapter in my life; after coming into the school, the mall looked like the feeding of the five thousand. St. Thomas More has over a thousand students, and every single one was there on that first day, trying to find the way to their new classes just like me. Walking through the halls of St. Thomas More with the unfamiliar smell of the classrooms reminded me of what lies ahead. I thought it was going to be difficult, because I wouldn’t see anyone I know. Fortunately, some of my old friends from St. Pius were in my gym class, so I was glad that I would not be alone in gym class.…

Ever since I was young I loved to exercise and that hasn’t changed one bit. The gym became a beneficial activity for my health, as well as my everyday life. Every second in the gym, carries me further and further away from reality. All the little things that would consume me in the real world fall behind as the time goes by. However, I was born with a narrow aorta, meaning that my heart works strenuously to distribute oxygen throughout my body.…

Earlier this year in January, I decided to start my weight loss journey. I managed to get rid of thirty-seven pounds throughout a period of six months. Along with a massive change of physical appearance, this journey also generated a lot of mixed responses from my family and friends. I heard many comments such as, “look at your bones sticking out of your shoulders stop now, you look unhealthy,” but also, there were others that said, “you look amazing, congratulations, you deserve it”. This giant wave of fluctuating comments got me thinking: what is the difference between looking healthy and looking good?…

y new diet has been a rather challenging one when I first started out I was under the impression that I could eat whatever I want when I want as long as I work out vigorously. After some much needed research I now know that this is wrong in a number of ways ok for one the total number of calories I intake is always going to be different from the amount of calories that you burn. If my output in my workout does not match the number of calories that I intake then I have just done a number of things. One is that instead of those calories being put to use to later become muscle they will eventually become fat because they aren’t being burned as they should be. So just because I work out like I’m the best athlete doesn’t mean I don’t have to eat…

“Runners on your mark…Set...Poww!” Those were the last sounds I heard during what could have been my last race of my sophomore year in collegiate Track and Field. It was a frisky, yet cool Saturday in April and after a strong performance in the previous indoor and outdoor season (4x100m and 400m), I was determined to continue and uphold my strong form on this day. There is a saying that things do not always turn out the way we hope, but I believe, there is always a positive lesson to be learned from every life event. I love sports.…
