Personal Narrative: Why I Learn Best Is Just Casually Doing Work

Decent Essays
The why that I think I learn best is just casually doing work. Not all nighter studying or get it done quick. I like to take my time and do it. These learning styles do represent me because I don’t care if I work alone or not. When I work I do like to snack and with some music, that's how I usually do it. I don’t like to work with bright light because it reflects off the paper and when I’m done, my eyes really hurt. I do disagree with motivation, my motivation is to succeed and go to college to have a good life. None of my teachers really motivate me so I have to rely on myself. Soon I think I will buy a giant beanbag to do my homework on because I love beanbags and this test says that it would be ideal if I sit in a comfortable chair. When

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…

Since starting high school, my interest in classroom learning had dropped quite significantly. I felt like grades were just a game, and that I should be out in the world learning things I deemed "practical life skills." My senior year I was able to mentor in a classroom of fourth graders for one period, ever other day. I took the class thinking it would be an easy and fun way to spend an hour an a half.…

My parents have said to work hard and do my best in school. I never understood why until I got older. The reason they told me to do my best in school was because they wanted me to think about school and my future. Both of my parents didn't get the chance to go to college. They both came to the United States looking for what most people come to the United States for ‘The American Dream’, they wanted a place where they could raise their children and find a stable job.…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…

The whole way I could feel butterflies flying around my stomach. As my mom and I got near the only three story, brown, and re- model building that stood out, my inside voice in my mind sounded like a recording machine repeating what I was going to say for my first work interview. “We are here, now go in there and show them what you got.”…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

9 years of memories, jokes, fails, and successes and I have learned so much over time. “Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.” When I saw this quote I instantly knew I wanted to write about it. I started taking improv classes in last summer and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I wanted to take classes because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but more importantly I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and see where it would lead. Since I started taking classes, I’ve encouraged almost everyone I meet to consider signing up for Level 1. It has made such an impact in my life that I want everyone and their mother to experience it. One thing I noticed from day one, however, was how few minority women there were at DCH.…

I completed my ten-hour class observation at the private school Georgia Military Prep. The Georgia Military Prep School is located on Georgia Military College’s main campus in Milledgeville. At GMC prep I observed Ms. Jennifer Spencer's advanced eighth grade math class. Ms. Spencer has a decidedly pleasant air about her, a quick smile, and a brisk step that belies her ‘let us get the job done’ type attitude. On my first day observing her class, I soon gathered that Ms. Spencer always has a goal in mind when she sets foot in the classroom.…
