Personal Narrative: Why I Hate A School

Improved Essays
So essentially we have two sides the kids who like this school and the kids who hate it. There really is no in between in these two sides you either love it you hate it. One of the arguments is “How many schools let you have your own computers to bring to school.” Well that might be true if you have your own personal computer but if you have a chromebook you might as well give up. On the other side we have kids saying “ The teachers suck the school is pointless.” I am more on I hate this school than the I love this school. Every school isn’t perfect though right? Well the people who enjoy this school use that to their advantage and the side that is against prefers to exploit it. If you had to go to the boys and girls club you would understand why I have such a deep hatred for this school. …show more content…
The “Stem” vibe they are trying to force up our buttholes is there for the girls not for the boys. “Well boys get to do video game club and learn how to program there.” You might be saying. No just no. We don’t get taught anything there and my interest more lays in the programing part not the building part which is why I don’t want to do engineering club. “Well they do programming in there.” I want to make video games though not just program robots not doing some crappy scratch programming. What about the kids who are too poor to pay for programming camps. It seems the kids who love this school are just eating all of this up. School in a whole is stupid. Take the years you are dumbest and your brain is still developing cram all of these facts into your head and then that will predict the rest of your life. Yes, What you do in your childhood and college days predicts the rest of your life. What job you get what house you get all of it. I’m not saying school isn’t important because it is. Just how they go about it is. How many deaths do you think are related to teens and college

Janet Womack, the superintendent of Florence City schools in Alabama, sums up the argument, when she says, “The issue we run into that I am opposed to and most of my colleagues are opposed to would be parents being able to pick and choose that your school is good enough for my child when it comes to fine arts and athletics or career tech but your school is not good enough for the other things.” She continues, “I don’t believe you can have your cake and eat it, too. I think either you choose to be a part of that system or you choose not to be a part of that system. It is one or the other and not a little of both.”…

American High schools as presented by Leon Botstein in “Let Teenagers Try Adulthood” are “obsolete and need to be abolished”, while this is one way to look at how to fix high school, it is not the only solution. There are some major concerns with high school, however abolishing them is unnecessary and an overreaction. Instead of using Botstein’s extreme changes to reinvent the helpfulness high schools are capable of, a few small changes that take time would be more beneficial to bring forth the full potential of high school and therefor the students that will attend them. A few changes that could be made include rethinking the attitudes of those associated with high schools, the lack of individualize teachings, and a reappraisal of the effect…

To sum it all up, we as students need to stand up and petition the Clayton County Board of Education to renovate our school. We as students don't want our school looking a billion years old. All of the other high schools that we visit for games and competitions have nice schools that are pleasant to the eyes such as Drew High School, Mundy's Mill High School, and more. When other high schools come to play at games or competitions at our school we don't want to show them the messed up bathrooms, food on the floor and writing on the walls. How would it feel if you came back to this school for your high school reunion and it looked the exact same from when you left?(Rhetorical Question)…

To start off, the major physical feature of the school is not very good because it is overcrowded. Two years ago the county redistricted, and now there are about three times as many kids here as there were in sixth grade. So now, when you are in the hallways, you are shoulder to shoulder with the person standing next to you. The cafeteria is really loud and you are sitting shoulder to shoulder with the kid sitting…

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

Against School Response Many would agree that school is important, including myself. However, just because it’s important doesn’t mean it’s always pleasant for the students (or teachers, apparently.) In fact, sometimes, besides school being an unpleasant experience, it can ultimately end up being a big waste of time. Not just for the student, or even the teacher, but everyone that attended a school that didn’t care about their students. Like John Gatto said in his insightful article “Against School”, when someone is educated, it doesn’t necessarily mean they went through twelve painful years of school, nor does success automatically mean that you went through them.…

Changing schools was the turning point in my life. Coming to a new school gave me a chance to meet new people who shared a similiar interests with me and find a place to fit in. I graduated from Hobbs alternative high school in Roby Texas, in 1997. The alternative school was for students who had been in trouble or for girls who were pregnant and needed to finish school a little sooner or at their own pace. The good thing about this schools that I like is will motivate the students and tell them what exactly what to do also the teacher would help and see what every student is doing but the only thing is that the teacher do not gives any ideas to students when a students are not sure about an answer for a question. Also the teacher does not have the control of the classroom when students get noisy or get up from their desk. Some students are noisy and annoying and it’s very hard for a person to deal with so many students at the same time when they are noisy. I remember back in the days in high school some of the student were noisy and annoying or just throwing papers and it was hard for a teacher to take the control of the class. She just called the securities from the school to take them out the class.…

In “Against School,” John Gatto argues that the main purpose of public schools and the educational system in general is to produce a “manageable” populace. Gatto argues that the current educational system does this by slowly acclimating students into certain habits, confirming students to certain rules, and implementing a certain mindset into students that makes them respond well to authority. All of these things that Gatto argues adds up to make a system for training a complaint workforce. Firstly, schools achieve what Gatto states their purpose is by acclimating students to how factories are organized and what working in a factory is like. Secondary, schools also accomplish Gattos argument by restricting the class choices of students and…

To be honest, I hate school with a passion, yet I love learning as much as living. As a child, schooling created a feeling of loneliness and sadness that echoed throughout my life, even now. I didn’t meet the standard levels for literacy and was separated from my classmates in elementary school for special reading and writing classes. Also the lack of freedom to say and move the way I wished to, and the rebellion that stemmed out of me in middle school due to these limitations. Finally, the conforming in high school to appease my mother, friends that drove me over the edge, yet even now I feel the same bull-crap in college.…
