Personal Narrative: Why I Deserve A Better Grade Than I

Improved Essays
In this paper I will be telling you on why I should deserve a better grade than I am currently getting. With my participation in class and the amount of research and work I have done on my papers make a strong argument for me getting a better grade. I will first talk about my article I shared in class and then talk about the Wall Street Journal assignment, ending with my resume. Then to close out the paper, I will talk about what grade I am currently getting and why I should be higher. With the article that I shared in class, it was a really last minute thing that I found. I always look on google news and mainly read the headlines to see what’s going on in the world. I read the ones that catch my eyes and do further research on the topic …show more content…
I deserve a much better grade on this than you gave me. I do hours upon hours of research to really make it seem like I could be a real world company that built batteries for Tesla Motors. And with the Volkswagen diesel scandal, it really made my research get much more in depth to filter through everything that was being said, as it was be updated very often as more information came out. I went through three of four renditions of the paper till I had to call it quits on the research and use the information that I already had to do my letter. I also knew my grammar within the paper wasn’t the best, so I went to the writing center provided by the school to get help and make sure my grammar was correct and the paper flowed nicely. After my time was up there, I went and did all the changes that he suggested by them that I should do to improve my paper. Yet, even after going to the writing center, that is stated in your syllabus that we should go and visit, I still failed the assignment. That isn’t right and I deserve at least a B on that assignment, as I fulfilled the assignment requirements and I went above and beyond to get my paper grammatically correct as well as the amount of research and keeping up to date with what was happening in the world as it related to my

A research paper was given as assignment in my English class. This research activity weights a good percentage of the final grade. Although I have done research papers for previous classes, this project has become special for me because I’m trying to demonstrate to myself how well prepared I am, and also it’s the opportunity to show the abilities attained in previous courses during my time in BCC. Certainly I have to admit that due to all information that I have to compile, this research activity has become like a nightmare for me, but I will put all my effort to contradictorilymake of this paper one of the best papers I ever made. I chose the topic “Have Government actions made New York City safer after 9/11?…

As the stadium lights slowly began to blind me, the smile I was wearing started to fade as I felt an overwhelming, nauseating sensation flow over my entire body; I thought that flags only slipped through hands on battlefields, not on a Friday night during a high school half time show. Failure is a one-way mirror. When standing in front of the mirror, the failure simply stares back in the form of a reflection. My first performance for the high school color guard amounted to the show flag slipping through my clutches and slamming onto the freshly cut, football field grass. The searing embarrassment that followed felt like the end of the world.…

Early in life, my parents split up; leaving me with my mother. beginning school, a learning disability forced much struggle within the battle of learning to read, but I persevered through diligence to be an A/B honor roll student throughout grades 1-5. Depression and anxiety paired with severe bullying drastically dropped my attendance and grades as I struggled with the unaccustomed habitat I was forced into. Consequently, I went about a large stint in life with little desire to live—believing I was alone.…

The title of my first reading response was “Trying to Find Joy in Reading.” I believe this was an appropriate title to describe how I walked into this class, and still in some ways how I’m walking out of it. My attitudes have changed slightly after taking this class, but I’m still not someone who would probably sit down and read a book in my free time. However, there were glimmers of hope for me throughout the semester that might indicate I’m heading in the right direction as far as being able to find joy in the reading process. I’m more of an active and outdoors type of person, than someone who enjoys reading.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

Over the course of this semester I’ve grown as a writer in many ways but also continued to use and improve on techniques that I acquired from the past. In the language analysis that we did in the beginning of the semester, I described how the use of facial expressions can act as a type of language when interacting among others. For this paper, I started paying more attention to people’s expressions and started making a connection between the emotion they were portraying and the expression on their face. For the rhetorical analysis, I analyzed two different print media ads involving drinking and driving and the consequences that come with both. During this writing process I noticed myself paying more attention to the warning signs for life and seeing more facts about death and situations that can be avoided.…
