Personal Narrative: Why I Became The President Of The United States

Introduction

“Abraham Lincoln lost eight elections, failed twice in business and suffered a nervous breakdown before he became the president of the United States.” (Wall Street Journal) I have accomplished two of these things myself and all I want, is to be a happy, healthy, well-adjusted family. My family consists of my husband Patrick, my daughter Brandy, my daughter Patricia (Trish), my son Robert (Robbie), my son Vincent (Vinny), my son Christopher (CJ), my son Alex and my daughter Jocelyn. I have chosen Be Proactive, Seek First to Understand…Then to Be Understood and Synergize.
I chose these concepts because I am an action person, and I want to be sure that I am being proactive. I want to learn to be an empathetic listener as opposed to someone who is always on guard waiting to be hurt again. Finally, synergize because I can see the strength in all of our differences and desire a mutual respect amongst my family, for each other,

They were the most important to me because they were also the hardest for me to learn and to practice. They work because if you are not proactive you are either stagnant or simply reacting to what life throws at you. Everyone wants to be understood at their core, as they are, and as they understand themselves to be. Synergy to me is the best one because if you can understand, accept and even embrace each other’s differences you have done half the work.
Self-awareness, conscience, imagination and independent will makes it much easier to empathize, or to trust that their strengths can also be your strengths. Where you are weak they will fortify you and where you are too strong they can help you to relax. Opposites attract for a reason. You cannot have light without dark, up without down, front without back, etc. The more you see the differences between you and your family the more you realize you are the
