Personal Narrative: Why Adnan Is Not Guilty

Improved Essays
The air was gunky. Every breath felt as if I had just inhaled two packs of cigarettes. There was noise all around me, people growing impatient from the long hours of waiting. Finally, my name was called out. As I walked down the long corridor towards the double doors I had an uneasy feeling about the verdict. I’ve made many mistakes in my life, but the one thing that I truly regret is befriending the new kid in school. From the first day that I met him things went horribly wrong. I should have known better about hanging around with him. But I can’t change the past, I can only hope that my words of honesty and compassion reached the jury. And that the jury does what’s right. The problem is that sometimes people let their personal issues and …show more content…
What readers should understand is that there was not even a small trace of Adnan’s DNA found at the scene in which Hae’s body was found, and no trace of DNA found on her body. There was no real solid evidence to link Adnan as the murderer. In episode six of Serial, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”, Sarah Koenig explained that the physical evidence against Adnan Syed was scant - a few underwhelming fingerprints. So aside from the cell phone records, what did the prosecutors bring to the jury, to share up Jay’s testimony? Sarah weighs all the other circumstantial evidence they had against Adnan, including curious behavior, a disconcerting note, and an unexplained mid-afternoon phone call? The evidence illustrates that the reason Adnan Syed was convicted was not based on evidence because there is no evidence here to convict him there is only suspicion. The evidence that is provided like a partial palm print is irrelevant because it was found in Hae’s car, the same car in which she and Adnan hung out in and she gave him rides. And then there are the cell phone records which would now a days be held as inadmissible in court, they are inadmissible for a reason and that reason being is that they don’t prove

Am I nothing but a murderer or rapist. I walk into the courtroom, it’s airy, a layer of silence blankets the room, I walk pass Jase's mother, she stares me down, guilt rushes over my body. I know all too well what she thinks of me, and what Jase's situation would be like if I were just to come forward as that third man. Prior to the mock jury activity in class, I did not know or understand much about the judicial or trial process. In this paper, I will just summarize the trial, my thoughts on the jury process and if I think justice is achieved through these systems. I have been in a court situation before where I have needed to testify, so I understand a bit more about the trial system than someone who hasn’t experienced it. The mock trial was a very engaging and helpful activity where I was able to more fully understand what happens in a trial. I was able to put myself in the juror’s shoes and to feel how tough of a decision it is because someone’s life is in your hands.…

I'm sitting there taking it all in and making sure I show him how regretful I am for doing what I did. When I sat down with my mom and sister the officer asked me what happened so i told him and he explained what could happen to me. At the moment he was explaining my situation I was nervous and scared even though i was going to accept the consequences of my actions.…

Although I believe Adnan is Innocent because none of the other suspects are more involved than Adnan , some may argue he is guilty because they believe that Jay that Adnan killed her and some say that they knew it was him because the type of person he is . This reason makes sense because Jay said that Adnan was guilty and when Don was in trial, he said good things about Adnan and that he was a good person and after trial one of the jurors told him why didn’t he talk bad about Adnan . This part of the story is when Adnan asked Hae for a ride, and it could’ve been a reason to get in her car and try kill her . “Adnan told him he’d asked her for a ride . Adnan later told a different cop he didn’t ask for a ride” .…

The murder case of Hae Min Lee is full of many holes and facts that don’t match up. That’s what makes the case intriguing, a person could take either side. Who is the real killer though? Adnan is rightfully innocent due to Jay’s testimony, the lack of evidence in Jay’s account, and contamination of evidence by the police in the investigation. Hae’s body was linked to the back of her car with no supporting physical evidence to Adnan, yet he was still accused.…
