Personal Narrative: Why Abortion Is Murder

Often, people that say they are "personally prolife" but would never impose their views on someone else. What they fail to realize is that this view is completely illogical. If abortion is truly murder, than we have the obligation to tell people not to do it. If it's not murder, there's no reason to be against it at all. To say, "I'm personally prolife, but I don't have to right to tell someone else what to do" is to say, "I'm personally against the slaughter of 700,000+ babies annually (this is from the CDC's website. Rather than fighting for what one really believes, he/she is simply saying that he/she doesn't have the right to do so. If I change "abortion" to say "theft" the absurdity of such a statement is clear. "I'm personally against stealing, but I don't have the right to tell someone else not to steal." Someone might say that abortion is different, because "it's her body, her choice." For the sake of argument, I'll assume that's true. If that's the case, such a person doesn't really believe abortion is murder and isn't really against it. He/she might not like it, but that's not the same thing. If this is where one stands, he/she needs to be honest about it. Don't claim to be prolife if you aren't. If, on the other hand, one really does believe abortion is murder, be brave and stand up for the unborn. No more excuses about "not having the right." Even if one does believe abortion is murder, he/she isn't really prolife unless he/she does something about it. Otherwise, he/she is just standing idly by while evil happens.
