Personal Narrative: Who Is Cory French

Improved Essays
He is the safest place I know, he is the guy in the white hat who saves the day. This is the only way I know how to describe the man I admire most. Cory is an amazing husband and father, he puts his family before everything else, he is not only a protector but a nurturer and teacher Cory French is a man who chooses to live by his morals, he believes in honesty, hard work, leading by example, and doing the right thing. These are all perfectly good reasons to admire this man but I have one great reason. As a submariner in the United States Navy, Cory took his duties very seriously, he sacrificed to serve his country. This is why I admire my husband.

My husband always looked so handsome in his Cracker Jacks (the traditional Navy uniform)

While having small talk about summer plans, Jim got out his phone and walked me through the website to find the application. Little did I know that my summer plans would be drastically changed when I took his advice and applied for the Lloyd Noble Summer Scholar program. Being an agribusiness major from Oklahoma State University with only an agricultural regulations background, my overall exposure to the agricultural world has been through legislation, inspection, and guidelines. Needless to say, when I found out I was chosen as an intern I was excited.…

President Barack Obama once said “When all American are treated as equal, no matter who they are or who they love, we are all more free.” As a Hispanic LGBTQ American, these words resonated with me. In my exposure to a plethora of cultures, in my personal experience and academic career, I have had the privilege to understand and further appreciate many lifestyles. Through these experiences, my mission: to serve toward compassion and respect, rather than intolerance and isolation, has remained clear. These past 8 years, Obama has been a champion for LGBTQ+ Americans.…
