Personal Narrative: Who I Am Today

Improved Essays
There have been many events in my life that have shaped me into the person that I am today, but there is one event in particular that has shaped me into who I am today. This took place when I was 12 years old in 6th grade. It all started when one day I was sitting in class and suddenly I was told that my Mom was here to pick me up, I was so confused because there was nothing going on that day that required me to go home early. When I got to the office I didn’t want to ask her what was going on but when we reached the car I saw that there were a whole bunch of trash bags with our belongings in them. I also saw my siblings and I asked them if they knew what was going on and of course, they didn’t know. When I saw that we were heading the opposite …show more content…
I still thought that all of this would be over soon but then we got enrolled in school. I didn’t like it there because I had no friends also because I went from being in middle school to elementary school. Then I and my sibling started to go see my dad on the weekends. The first few weeks we went to my dad’s mom's house to see him because he wasn’t living at our house he was living with them. After a few weeks, he got kick out from their house because they didn’t like him. Then he stayed with his sister and we would go to her house I didn’t really like it there because we never did anything me and my sibling just sat in a room all day and watched tv.
This went on for a whole year and then my mom told me we were going to India. It would be my first time going and my moms first time going in 18 years. I didn’t understand why we were going or how. But then I found out that my dad was taking us I was really surprised because I never thought something like this would ever happen. Then a couple months after school was over we went to our home and I was so excited because I hadn’t been there in a whole year. We spent a week packing our stuff and getting resettled in and then we were

Who am I? That is a very deep question. I think the only way I can answer that truthfully is by saying, I do not know exactly who I am, but I know who I want to become. I want to become a well rounded individual, someone who everyone likes and looks up too. I want to be someone my family can be proud of.…

At first I was caught off guard a little, unsure if I heard them correctly or if it was a joke. Well it was no joke they told us that our father had called and wanted to know if we would like to see him. We sat down and had a long discussion about it. My parents didn 't want to push us into doing something we didn 't want to do but at the same time didn 't want to make it seem as if they did not want us to go. After a long talk my brother and sister decided that they wanted to see how it would go.…

“Things always have a way of figuring themselves out.” That’s what my dad always would tell me when I was younger which, in a way, relates my life to Jeannette Walls’ in The Glass Castle. He told me that whether or not things had problems over time or in a matter of seconds, they would always figure themselves out. I carry those words with me as a reminder that things for me were really hard at one point, but in the end they figured themselves out. My parents divorced when I was twelve years old, and just headed into 7th grade.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

Disney World When it comes to my childhood there is not a lot I remember. I remember small little things like when I got an electrical plug stabbed into my fore head and I had to get stitches. I remember when I learned to swim at my aunt’s pond. I remember small details from my childhood, but one memory I know and remember enough about to write this 3-4 page essay is the time my parents took me and my two sisters to Disney World in Orlando, Florida as a surprise vacation. It was November of 2004 and my parents decided to go out to dinner with my two sisters and me.…
