Personal Narrative: Who Are You

Improved Essays
The answer to the question “Who are you?” is always altering because we are all learning and growing day by day. Theres not really a moment in time where everything just clicks and you “find yourself.” Through you’re life, you are creating yourself and there are various factors that mold a person into who they are, like their culture, belifs, hobbies, and interests. People can also be effected by their past family history or certain events that may have taken place before they were born.
At first impression, others will usually see me as quiet and reserved, but I am just slow to open. Like everyone else, when im comfortable with you, I’ll be much easier to talk to and be around. I stay pretty positive about life and just “go with the flow,”

Although, when I do decide to be more productive, I enjoy painting and creating an image out of colours and brushes. I don’t typically paint specific things, usually whatever might seem aesthetically pleasing at the time. Baking is an enjoyable past time for me, although I don’t do it very often. This is because I actually don’t like baked goods such as cakes and cookies so for the most part, no one ends up eating it besides my brother. None the less it’s process of mixing, measuring, and espeacially decorating eases me. One of my more random interests are flowers and the stars. Flowers because they come in so many diverse types and they all are so striking with different feautures you cant just call one model of a flower appealing. Florals can also have different man made meanings for example, a white rose typically means purity, a red one is sincere love, and a yellow rose might mean contentment. Stars fascinate me for the feeling they emit when I gaze at them. “When you look into infinity, you realize that there are more important things than what people do all day,” – Bill Watterson. For me this is very true, makes all the things we worry about and obsses over seem so insignificant. It gives you a new viewpoint and you become grateful for all you have, and similarly to Bill’s idea, the world would be different if everyone stared at the stars

When asked to define myself in one paper, I find it hard to show the details that I want to in the right light. When asked about my future after high school, I also have a hard time describing everything I want to get done because there are far too many things to name. The quote “ _____” (i want to be everyone and do everything and there isn’t enough life to do it all in) describes me to a tee, and I believe this college is the place I could do this in. Being a shy person for most of my life, many things were difficult for me. Specifically, last summer I had the opportunity for a summer job.…

Well, it was a pretty long journey that took me all of middle school and almost all of high school. In fact, even now I am not entirely certain who I am. It is a bit of a mystery, and it is taking quite a while for me to unveil it. How I have come to know who I am for the most part is through the people I have interacted with through the years, and how I have reacted to certain situations in my life. The way I reacted to all the different folks in my life has definitely shown what things I like in a person, and what things I do not like.…

Back in high school, my hobbies revolved around arts. I used to have my own dance group and we performed various numbers at our school. Shortly after joining Vanier, I kept those hobbies, enrolled in some dance classes and performed during the Universal Break. But, as life of a college student started to weigh on me, I alternated my hobbies with staying home and watching on television shows such Friends. Another hobby that I possess is drawing; I keep a notebook with me in which I draw anything that catches my attention whether it is a building, a statue or a wheelchair.…

At first, I was trying to be something I wasn’t- I was trying to be someone else. But, in the process of doing this, I discovered my own person. I use handwriting as a solid and very visible example. I was unhappy and self-conscious of how I was, so I changed, and in the end was better for it. I used this line of thinking for more than just my handwriting:…
