"Dad went out to look for T, he wouldn't come in when I called," Mom told me as she saw the shaken expression run across my face.
"Well how long ago did you let them out?" I asked curiously, suddenly getting timid.
"Probably a half an hour or
On 05/12/17 at 6:48pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to the area of W 5th Ave and Highland St on a dog at large, patrol only. I arrived in the area and saw a unknown male and female playing with a white medium mix dog and a boxer in a field. I stopped and exited my vehicle and approached the individuals. They indicated that they are the ones that called about the boxer running loose. I returned to my vehicle and retrieved my snare pole and doggie treats.…
Choosing the person to interview for this assignment was difficult at first, trying to determine which sport and how to contact that person. I first started with the Toledo Mud Hens, but didn’t receive any call backs. I also contacted the Lansing Lugnuts and the West Michigan White Caps and again no call backs. So I looked up minor league baseball teams and the name El Paso Chihuahuas caught my attention. Looking up their front office staff on their website I seen that Angela Olivas is the Director, Marketing and Communications for the team.…
“Breaking news tonight folks, I am James Davison your newscaster. This afternoon we got word that there has been a attack in Dunkirk, the Germans surrounded the beach, blood was shed today… We now have the number of casualties... sixty-eight thousand…” The podcast ended by George hitting the power button.…
We all know or have met at least one person who is shorter than average, feels threatened by this and chooses to act out, possibly using humor or anger to prove their point. Before, I had thought this phenomenon was only present in humans but my beloved Boxer, Hank has proved me wrong and his choice is to use aggression. Hank is thirteen years old. He has always been very loving, playful and affectionate. I have several nieces and nephews, which he gets along great with all of them, at all ages.…
Making It to the Big Time I am Vincent Crabtree. When I was a freshman in High School, I participated in an activity called “Winter Percussion”. It was much like marching band, but it took place during the winter and spring season, and it featured a smaller ensemble composed mostly of percussive instruments. Throughout the season, we had practice almost nightly, working to put together a show that would be performed in competition with other drumlines.…
The first time I knew I had a talent, was when I entered wrestling at Carmel High School. My talent is that I can accomplish the impossible. In a matter of days, I became one of the best players in my wrestling team. In senior year when I first began wrestling, I lost to everyone on the team. After a week of practice, I accomplished the impossible.…
Since my birth, my biological father hasn’t spent much time with my brothers, sister or me. My mother had to even go to the jail after I was born to have him sign my birth certificate. My mom would always tell us that he was busy at work or visiting his family but occasionally he would send us things in the mail like letters, little knitted necklaces, he would always explain in his letters that he would be home soon and we would spend more time together. I knew this wasn't true because when he got back from wherever he was he would see us maybe once but then it was like he disappeared off the face of the planet.…
“Dude, those were the longest three hours of my life!” Troy exclaimed. “They went by so quickly for me! But then again, we watched a movie in English, so...” Sandy smirked, unpacking her lunch.…
If I told my coachs the how I really felt about shooting in the beginnig, they wouldn’t believe that I disliked shooting. I never liked going to shooting practices, because I had to get up early and drive to the club. Little did I know that I had a skill for the sport. I started my shooting career in the seventh grade and continue shooting to this day. I have achieved many awards for sport shooting, and I continue to compete.…
It was June 10th, 2015, my mother and I were in our large southern Indiana home on the Ohio River, the weather was sweltering and it was unbearable to set foot outside without sweating. The maid had just arrived at the house and went to get me another lemonade just like she has done every other hot summer day for years. As I throw back my third glass of lemonade on the porch swing, I hear my mother talking to her friend on the phone about our trip to New York City. “Yes Laquisha, I have to take Nova! Parker won’t watch her, he’s too busy with Rachel to watch his own daughter…” whispered my mother in her iPhone.…
When I was seven I used to wrestle, other than that I didn’t really know a lot about other sports. I didn’t really like wrestling a lot but my dad made me go so I went to practice anyway. During my free time, I sat around my house watching TV and playing with Legos.…
A few years ago I remember walking home from school. Mind you I thought I was very handsome back in those days, I had soft, dark brown hair, I went to the gym every day, I was fit and healthy, personally I thought I was a ladies man and I still am (I think). Anyways, I was almost home…
Let’s Get Ready to Rumble Throughout my twelve years of schooling, I have been taught in three states, at six different schools and by countless teachers. No matter the grade or state every teacher had the same goal, to make sure each student knew the material and advanced toward the next level. My most recent teacher, Mr. Whitey, helped me with my ongoing battle more than any of my past teachers.…
In a rural town in southern Minnesota, I grew up with my mother and my little brother. There I fell in love with sports and physical activities, for it was all anyone could do at so young of an age, or in the town for that fact. My mother quickly realized my interest in these activities, likewise when it came to who I had available to communicate with, which was no one near my age. So, we moved to one of the larger towns near us, Owatonna, where I had been born.…
June 18, 2015. It was a breezy Saturday afternoon and everything seemed normal. I looked out my window on the fifth story of our hotel. I saw the birds flying in the air. My family and I were on vacation in Miami, Florida.…
