Personal Narrative: When I Had To Go To College

While I was a senior in high school all my friends were talking about going to college and what they were going to do with their life. They were looking at collages that had the best reputation, and the best success rate. A lot of the people that I knew were always coming up to me asking what I was going to do with my life or where I was going to pursue higher education. This kind of caught me by surprise. After all high school was not even over yet. So why should I be looking at going to another school when I have not even finished the one that I was at. But I also had something they did not, I live on a farm. I kept having flashbacks while we were running the cows through the chute. My mind kept going through the motions on what my friends said to me in high school. What are you going to do with your life was the question that kept coming back and haunting me like a ghost. It was like a wind that keep giving me shivers down my spine and it stung me to the bone. As I kept running the cows through the chute it started to dawn on me that maybe sense now that the high school nightmare was over. I should probably start to look at other schools to go to. After all, I always did have the farm to turn back if it failed. So what did I have to lose? I was not really paying attention to what was going on around my surroundings when we were working the cows. I started to let my guard down after thinking about maybe the possibility of a future in school and the opportunities that it may hold. After all, I would be the first person in my family to attempt to try to go and get a higher education. It would be a great honor and a privilege to be able to follow up on something that I might enjoy. I have lived on a farm all my life and I started to think that maybe it would not be a bad idea to try something new. By going to college, I could possibly learn a new trade and explore new opportunities to try besides the farming lifestyle.
