Just checking in to see how your dog duties are coming along. I hope Emma is healing and that Diesel hasn’t eaten anyone yet. Our Foster dog almost died, was diagnosed with either/both leukemia and a stomach blockage of some sort, and then made a full recovery. We had a chance to have him put down, but I decided to give him more time and brought him home from the hospital with a prescription for Prednisone, which was expected to extend his life by maybe another 6 weeks. He’s in his third week now and, other than the shaved legs and belly, seems perfectly normal.…

Cheryl, the vintner coordinator, tried to tell us about some of the dogs, but with the amount of noise all we could do was nod and pretend like we understood. The day was my fourteenth birthday when nothing was supposed to go wrong. The idea of going on a nature walk was on my mind because we usually don’t do a family event on birthdays; it ends up being a casual day with the event of people buying items you requested which is not fun for everyone else but you.
