Personal Narrative: When I Formed My First Song?

Improved Essays

I imagined Jay-Z and Kanye West spitting the verses while I sang softly in the chorus, throwing in my random notes to accompany the rap section. The music inspired me, and I was absolutely positive that this would be a number one hit. I knew that everyone would love to hear more music like this song on the radio. I was so sure of my idea, but I was only ten years old. I was that child who went to the library for internet, and ate free lunches at school. I never got an allowance for the chores I did, or the good grades. This was a wall that seemed too tall for a ten-year old to cross. I was only moments away from giving up

Decoded was a glimpse into the rough environment of world known artist Shawn Carter, or better recognized as Jay-Z. In this book, Carter gives a clear analysis of not only his lyrics, but also the meaning of each lyric. He goes into detailed memories to steer the audience in the direction of a better understanding and acceptance to a different perspective than of those that are given via social media. In order to accomplish this, Jay-Z delves into three main topics. Firstly, he hoped to make a valid argument that hip-hop lyrics from any rapper are poetry if you looked behind the lines and examined them enough.…

As a human being, it is in my best interest to be able to distinguish a credible person from a non-credible person in a matter of seconds in order to ensure my basic survival. It is primary and vital that I understand who I am able to trust and who I should avoid, yet it is something that happens instinctively and even without notice; like when my hand quickly reaches and grabs the pencil that is about to roll off the side of a table. The millisecond that it takes for my hand to grasp the pencil just before it hits the floor is also about all the time it takes for a person’s credibility to be thrown out the window. Once this happens, a person’s image is tarnished forever, making it extremely difficult for them to regain the public trust they had before. This is why newsmakers, spokespersons, and celebrities must be highly cautious when it comes to their reputation, especially in the age we live in now where almost anything that has sparked controversies in the past can be looked up at any point in time.…
