My life having injuries is difficult. Most of the time, I cannot play because of it. People don’t always think you can play through an injury but sometimes you have to do what you got to do. Injuries have an impact on people life. After an injury, they be scared to start back playing something because they think that if they start back playing on it, they will mess it up worse.…
Crashing On my Dirt Bike Today was going to be another day of dirt biking. I was all ready to leave the house and I was just waiting for my dad to load his dirt bike and mine into the back of his truck. I had my new riding gloves on and was ready to get going. I heard my dad coming back inside when I heard the sliding glass door open.…
Broken Bones on the Practice Field On May 28, 2013 I tried out for my high school football team. Two years before that I had some feel of how it was in a helmet and pads. The feeling was great I loved the game…
Fractured Wrist By: Charles Roberts (Control) To this day I still remember everything clearly like it all happened a month ago, but at least I don’t remember the pain. There were so many things I could have done differently, but what happened has happened; no control. Back in 6th grade around late August, early September where it all started.…
yeah it hurt but it would have hurt more knowing that I was not going to be able to do my favorite thing in the world, and that scared me. It turns out I just needed a break but guess what, I didn’t take one… we went on to win sub-state and then to win the state championship, not to mention we finished the season with a perfect record of 44-0 and our Coach got COach of the Year. It was a great way to end our season that we had worked so hard to accomplish our goals. The next sport that I play…
The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…
I began to ask over and over again if I could still try out, no one knew how badly I wanted to be on the Varsity team even with my leg completely discombobulated. The trainer told me I’d be fine and recover in enough time , which I later found out he was just saying so I could stay calm, but the truth was my leg wouldn’t fully be healed for months. After much persuasion from everyone around me I decided to let the trainer pop my patella back in so I wouldn’t have to go to the hospital. I bit down hard on a t-shirt and counted to three then we straightened my leg out. Finally the easy part was over….…
I am not a boxer, but I got a boxer's fracture. A boxer's fracture is a fracture of one of the metacarpal bones in the hand. The fracture occurs when a person hits an immovable object with a closed fist. That is exactly what I did about one year ago. My ex boyfriend's collar bone was the point of contact.…
One event that affected my life is is when I moved to North Carolina from Arizona. It happened 3 years ago when I was 12. It happened over 5 days. Me and my family were part of this wonderful experience. The reason we moved was because of my stepfather was getting a job to work for Lowe’s Hardware in the corporate building.…
I never would have thought I would ever break a bone nor have a major injury in my whole life. I thought I was invincible, but that all changed in the seventh grade. I never played a down of football in my life till I joined the team in 2010. It is a bit ironic that the first year I would join football, would be the first year I would sustain an injury. I tore my ACL my first year of contact football.…
They say that injuries are just a part of athletics. And before my senior football season, I had never thought much about. I had never had any major injuries that required me to miss anytime longer than a few practices. But that all changed on a third down one friday night. It was my senior year of high school, my last shot to play high school football.…
Do you ever think about the sport you’re really good at, and like doing, then get injured so you couldn’t do it anymore? Neither did I until it happened before wrestling practice as we were warming up when I broke my collarbone. This all started the day after Thanksgiving at wrestling practice. We were warming up playing basketball and if someone didn’t make it you had to start sprinting for the ball.…
My First Broken Bone The time I broke my first bone, I was tumbling and the event affected me greatly. It had a major impact on the way I thought and my mindset when it comes to achieving my goals. Sometimes, things happen in life that bring us down and make us doubt ourselves, but no matter what happens, we should always keep striving to reach our goals. Which is what I had to do when I was going through a rough time in tumbling. On an afternoon in June of 2011, I attended my normal tumbling class at Full FX in Port Arthur, Texas.…
Everyone has that one thing in life they enjoy doing. For me that is spending time with my horse, Sparkle. I could spend hours with her every day. I look at Sparkle as my best friend more than I look at her as a horse. So, the day I jumped on her bareback I thought nothing of it.…
I had not ever been in a car accident before in my life, so when I experienced one, I did not enjoy nearly dying. It happened four years ago, I can still vividly remember everything. I was with my sister, Nakesha, she was driving since I was not old enough to drive yet. We were having a good day and had decided to go to my dad’s for a while to see him since our parents are divorced. We spent a considerable amount of time with our dad who kept making us laugh like he always does.…
