Personal Narrative: What's Your Story

Improved Essays
As I sat down to write this paper my dad continually pressed with me the question, "What's your story?" Well, here it is. I am a white female with no disabilities, an only child of married parents, and attend a private Christian high school five days a week. That is, sadly, the story that society judges me on.

But now the question has shifted, "What motivates your story?" My academic success, athletic titles, and scholarly achievements have motivated me to get to this moment, the moment that society claims will pave my future. And yet, I know that these earthly things will be of no concern when my life is taken. My limited time on earth is just that, limited.

Now the perspective has changed. The question falls to "What fulfills your story?"

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

Tell what you knew: My first day of high school seemed like the beginning of the end to me. I wasn’t really that popular, I didn’t really have the last name to fit in with the town of Marathon, and many other reason to be afraid of what might happen to me based on what I heard from others and just the plain fears. Most of my freshman year was just me trying to stay out of people 's way, with everything that has happened to me it seemed like every day was a battle to not get my head in the wrong spot. Along with that my grades weren’t the best either.…
