My mom is very optimistic, almost to a fault, and she can always tell when we are down. She is about 5’2,” with a thin face and bright, hazel eyes with tightly curled, brown hair.
I have always loved sports, and so of course, when I started playing basketball my 6th grade year, I wanted to do my best, and learn to have fun with it. I was very inexperienced, and played like it, but I enjoyed the experience. It was no surprise when I decided to play again my 7th grade year.
By the time 7th grade rolled around I was very elated to start my next

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

Since, I can remember I have always been the shy, quiet type. I did not speak, unless spoken to, made friends, but never put effort in keeping them, because there was no point in keeping friends when I knew I would have to move the next school year or half way through the year; however, that all changed in the middle of my third grade year. IT happened. The BIG move. Well, not really.…

One thing I have learned in life is that not everyone will be similar to me. Other people will most likely have different values, experiences, and perspectives on life. When I was much younger, I dreaded meeting new people who I shared nothing in common. I feared we would not get along and this would lead to problems. However, my exposure to disparate people in sports, school, and work has helped me broaden my horizons and be better prepared to relate to others in the future.…

I first touched a volleyball in the fall of 7th grade, and instantly fell in love with the sport. I come from a family of athletes and had grown up playing AAU basketball and soccer. However, my parents encouraged me to try different sports and I am beyond thankful that they did! From that year on, I have tried out for a club team that plays from November through July each year. For the past five years, I have been selected to play on the top team for our region- a national traveling team.…
