Personal Narrative: What I Will Be Like When I Drop My Kids Off At College

Decent Essays
I can only imagine what it will be like when I drop my kids off at college. Everyone keeps telling me to enjoy the years because they go by so fast. I agree because it seems like yesterday my 9 years old daughter was just a toddler. Congratulations on raising a child, you guys look awesome in your photo! I would say take a vacation down to Florida but the weather is not looking great.

Life's a journey worth taking the unbeaten path. That is why, despite looking up to my loving parents and having the utmost respect for them, I have taken a different road than they did. However, undergoing any challenge without their guiding experience can certainly prove to be an undertaking. I, a first generation college student, am the pioneer of higher education for my family. Though I join many others in lunging out into the world for the first time, I am doing so without having a father or mother to tell me how to tackle the college experience.…

All my life, I’ve been aware of the people around me and considered what I could do to make their lives more fortunate. With this interest in mind, I joined the Anti-Bulling Club (ABC) at my school in the 6th grade, eventually becoming ABC president in the 10th grade. As president, my biggest priority was to make my school a place where students were welcomed to engage in discussion unafraid of what might be said; I tried accomplishing this goal by getting volunteers to hold the doors and greet peers to school each morning. Through creating this inviting atmosphere, students participated in more constructive conversation, leading to provoking questions that even teachers could not answer. When I transitioned to community college life in the…

My college life started in the summer of 2012, all of my hopes and ambitions were suspended in mid air. The apogee of the first year of my college life in spite of facing the stigma of my age group; was that of the support I received from the instructors in helpimh making my career goals obtainable. During the second semester of my third year of college I started losing my passion. I changed my major from Anthropology to Criminal Justice and tried to keep going. However; needing to take a step back.…

I put off returning to school because of this very topic - time management. Bethel offers several ways to help with this issue, I particularly like the online calendar as a way to keep assignments and discussion deadlines front and center. I was traveling out of state for the entire Unit 1 cycle; it was a daunting task making sure I was back at the hotel in time to devote time to my studies as well as my work obligations. So, remaining focused on keeping professional and personal worlds separate and manageable is the bane I (like my other classmates) share and must remain cognizant of.…

My Life as a Teen Mom I belong to a crowd of young, strong, independent teen moms. What does a “Teen Mom” actually mean? It’s a term that people occasionally bash us, teen moms, with. Most of the outside population blame us for being a teen mom because they say we ruined our lives and will never have a successful future. Some may say that a teen mom is just someone who gets pregnant and has a baby at a really young age.…
