Personal Narrative: What I Learned In Three School Sports

Decent Essays
My favorite truth that I wrote in “find the fib” was probably that this school year I played in 3 school sports, and that in every sport I played I went to state in all 3. This season of sports was very good for me and that's why I think this is my favorite truth.
This season I played basketball, track, and cross country. Cross country was my first school sport and I was the number 1 or number 2 runner on the team. I did good throughout the season, I was doing good, but during the first meet I could not walk because of the searing pain in my heal, felt like needles being stabbed into my foot every time I would put pressure on the front of my foot, if you can imagine you're all ready for a race then a sharp crisp pain coming down you leg and into you heal. When I was running it feels like you are free running in the wind and everyone is watching you seeing how fast you can actually go, whenever I run I always think of the racers as of horses running as free as they could. When you running noone can stop you everyone cheers you on as you run People would ask how I felt after the race and I would just chuckle. I did really good at sectionals and I even had people saying I was as fast as a horse and after the race we had the chance to go to state. At state we got about 10th overall as a team but personally I got about 53rd. at state there was about 400 ,maybe 500 runners that I was against, and the top 25 got medals. That is how I did at state in cross country. During basketball season this year we went mostly undefeated only losing 3 games. Every game

I don't know if I will ever be able to go to state in any sport again and i'm very thankful that I was able to go and I hope that this year in all my sports I can go again. This was how I went to state in every

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

As a year-round student-athlete, balancing classwork and academics with training has been at the forefront of my entire high school career—freshman to senior year. Though the classes I undertook were rigorous and required an extreme level of commitment and attention, I persisted with my athletic career because it taught me several valuable life lessons. The sport I feel that I am most involved in is Cross Country. While only a fall sport, it is, in my opinion, one of the most physically demanding and difficult sports to compete in. We train by running upwards of thirty miles a week to compete against other teams in 5000-meter races on various terrains.…

I happen to be in cross country, cross country skiing, and track. In skiing it is imperative that one has good stamina. Basketball lasted through middle and high school, but nevertheless, I learned quickly that college basketball was not my next step. Joy and happiness carried my teammates and I through every season, although the yelling would start when laughing was the only activity at practice. Even though the cheerleaders’ voices at Goose Creek High School filled the gym, however, my teammates and I filled the gym and the lobby. The game of basketball is mesmerizing because it keeps everybody on the edge of their seats with every shot that goes in, every foul that is called, and especially when a dunk occurs. Unfortunately, in high school girls did not have the ability to dunk, but it was fascinating to watch my teammates play.…

As a student athlete who moved multiple times, I built many relationships with my teachers and coaches. I will always remember the teachers and coaches that had a positive impact on my life, whether it was in second grade or my senior year of high school. When I entered college, I contemplated majoring in Education and going straight into teaching because it was of serious interest to me. However, I chose to go another route with my major. After working for a few years in another field, I decided that it was time to strive for a profession that enthused me.…

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the new athletic director Mr. Bunnell and conduct an interview with him. Through the interview I had found out that Mr. Bunnell has been in education & athletics for 15 years and has been a teacher, a coach and an athletic director. He also stated that to be able to help impact the lives of many student athletes is special to him, and he works hard to ensure to make sure that his coaches and athletes have the best opportunity to succeed. Before Saugus High School he was the athletic director for the north middlesex regional school district for 4 years. I asked him why he wanted to come to Saugus and he said that he saw the passion that the community has for athletics and that's something special.…
