What is one of the past experience that has made me, me? This is a hard question to answer. Well I guess I would need to find out who I am first, so who am I? I’m sporty, I like school, I’m slow at typing, I like dogs, I love it outside, I love fishing,I love trucks, I love four wheelers. I guess i’m a more country than anything else. My time at Valley Forge was over, I had been fighting for general George Washington since the summer of 1775 and the victory on April 13 looked so far away because it was only late December, and it was seeming as if a turning point was unlikely. Do I stay and be loyal to my brothers or do I leave and never look back. I had to make my choice very soon, I could have left and the pain of seeing my brothers die , or I could stay and fight for my freedom such as many men had already done. The decision I made was to stay and fight for my country because many men had gotten sick, and I was a faithful servant to my country and I wanted to do what I came to the new world to do which was achieved my freedom .…

Southern Writing Project It was a cool summer's evening in the small town of HanksVille, Alabama. Ma and Pa were sitting on the front porch listening to the crickets chirp. I was in the kitchen making a sandwich, while my little sister Amanda was sitting on the couch watching this show she seems to really like called "Full Metal Alchemist. " I guess it was a sad show because she got all teary eyed when a guy named Maes Hughes died and I showed his coffin. " When I asked her why she was crying when it wasn’t real, she said "watch the whole series and you'll see why.…

There isn’t anything more breathtaking than going Up North. If you’re not from Michigan you might be wondering, “Where up north?” In Michigan we use “up north” as a term for the upper half of the mitten, I’d say from the top of the thumb up. The UP (Upper Peninsula) can be considered Up North but normally it's just the UP.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

This summer I had the privilege to travel to Atchison, Kansas, where I attended the Life Teen Leadership Conference at Benedictine College. This conference was not only the best week I have ever experienced, but it was a week filled with many Catholic teens joined together in learning how we can live out our Catholic faith, and what it means to be a leader at school, home, and church. During this conference I encountered a bible verse that opened my eyes and truly resonated with my heart, making me rethink my life and how I was living it. “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple” Luke 14:27. I had heard this verse before at church many years before this event, but in that moment at LTLC, the world stopped…
