While I was packing for my trip, I knew I was bringing an excessive amount of clothing but, I justified myself by saying "you never know where you'll end up going." Breaking down the Afterlife The Afterlife of clothing is very important to society. Many people do not stop to think about what happens to their clothes after they donate, recycle, or trash them. When Americans discard a piece of clothing we usually do it one of two ways. We send it to Goodwill thinking that it will be resold to someone in need, or if it 's shockingly torn or stained, we throw it away assuming that the lifetime treasures of the garment has past. As consumers we should be very aware of these things because the best alternatives are either recycling or donating.…

This process can shave off hours of pillaging for a certain item of clothing, which will allow you to spend this time more productively; however, if you do not make a commit to the maintenance of your closet, chaos will strike and the organization will disintegrate. Introduction Fashion is used as a medium for people to express themselves and communicate who they are, however, as a whole, the industry is based on materialism and design obsolescence that undermines the notion of sustainability. Sustainability can be defined as being able to meet the needs of the present without compromising the future economically, socially and environmentally (TFIA, 2014). Designers have a responsibility to work within these guidelines, though most do not. Businesses can control the impact they have on the environment, society and economy by changing their business philosophy, modifying their production processes and products, and by utilising their influence to educate consumers. Business Philosophy and Management Companies have a social, economic and environmental responsibility to partake in sustainable practices.…
