When most of the students are dying to get out of Language Arts Lab, but I am dying to stay. A lot of people when they hear that I am in Language Arts Lab class will automatically think that it teach the students the art of the English language, but it actually teaches the students who take it, skills that English as a second language students (ENL) will use in the rest of their academic life. Language Arts Lab taught me a lot of a valuable lessons, it taught me how to use my time wisely and even after all of this lessons I still have struggles that I am trying to overcome.
One of the valuable lessons that I was taught in Language Arts Lab is how to set goals for myself and how to actually achieve them. Just like most of the freshmen three years ago, for me goals were the score that the soccer players get in the soccer game. I didn’t set any goal for myself. I was new and I was just beginning a new life. Sophomore year came in and I was the

It made me know how to prioritize, know to use my time wisely. Daily goals sheets was as simple as just a paper but without it I would’ve been lost. I always wrote down my homeworks from most important to the least important and with that I knew how to divide my time so I can get done with all of my homework on time. At the beginning of the trimester I didn’t give the daily goals sheet importance but now I have to write something down not just to get points on but to know what I am doing and what I need to get done. The Assignment notebook was so important. For three years I filled nothing in it. Now that I have to fill it in everyday for check. I can’t emphasize how important it is to fill it in. Last year I didn’t fill anything in and I used to be up at three o'clock in the morning to do my homework, But now that i am filling it in. I finish my homework and go to bed at eleven or twelve o’clock

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. I always been having trouble with grammars. My high school English teachers taught us about grammars and how to become a better writer. It was similar to what you had taught us in class because we always learned about grammar out of a book and we got tested after we been practice.…

When I was a child I always though about business. I wanted to know how things worked, how money worked. I started watching my grandfather write his invoices, deposit checks, talk to people as if he knew them but they had just met. I wondered how he did it, how he played his cards right and got people to hire him.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

It was a cold, winter morning. The frigid air blew as I turned to pull the handle on the door to the main building of my small high school. After entering the doorway, I dragged my feet across the floor and trudged through the empty hallway. As I peeked through each of the door windows, I saw nothing but dark, empty classrooms. It was not until I looked up that I noticed one lit room at the end of the hall.…

My talent is creating, and my form of creating is writing. Writing is a thing I've been doing since I was in the seventh grade. I started writing then because of a troublesome past, both my mother and my father had left my two other siblings and I all alone, leaving us with our uncle. It was very hard for me to adjust, I was fatigued and emotionally hurt, I turned to writing. My love for writing grew into a bigger part of my life when I kept dream journals.…

The Dreaded Reading Class It was the first day of third grade. I jumped out of my moms car after kissing her on the cheek and hearing the routine “have a good day”. To know that we were all in the same class having goals to continue our education and to see that they weren’t persistent and determine to do what it takes to fulfil their dreams. It made me realize that achieving my goals, to go to college and finishing college was more than just saying words. I had to do my class work, be at class and turn in my work when they were due, so that I could get good grades. It even required me to get help in areas of my work where I was weak at out of class on my own time, to better improved myself. Over the first semester I feel I have been appropriately challenged in the area of writing we have done this year. I learned many new skills, but the most important one involves English and how to write properly. As for the first writing, I really did not understand what was right and what was wrong. Because I never paid close attention to specific rules in how to write. I truly believe it has been hard for me.…

When I was younger my writing consisted of many errors just like any normal elementary schooler. I remember in first grade we had a stuffed animal bear everyone got to take home one weekend and write about all the things we did with this bear. As I look back on my writing from back then I laugh because of all the misspelled words and sentences that just did not make sense at all! As I went through school teachers always had us to different writing assignments and with everyone I watched my writing get stronger and more sophisticated.…

To be completely frank with you, this class was a challenge to me. Although this class did have some similarities to my twelfth grade english class, the differences were unfamiliar to my sense, but I am glad I faced it in this semester. A big challenge that I had to face this semester was asking for the proper help I need to improve my writing, and participating in class. I do admit, I never truly faced the challenge of participating in class as much I expected to. Although, I did ask for help, whether asking my peers or asking you, Professor Kaiser.…

My experience with reading and writing start with my teacher from elementary all the way up to my teachers in high School, Ripley, Tennessee school district, and University of Memphis. My teachers during school remind me about the things I must do for class more than my college professors.
