Personal Narrative: What I Learned From When My Failure

As a young child I learned a lot from when I failed at tasks or did something wrong. A lot of what I learned was from watching how my parents acted and what they did in certain tasks. Growing with a twin we often learned and acted off of each other’s actions so when one of us got in trouble or did something wrong it was a learning experience for both of us. All my life I have been natural smart and got good grades without really trying. When I was young I learned better when I saw what I needed to do or had an example to look off of. Growing up I have realized that I best when I can see what I need to do. Since high school I have still got good grades but I know must work hard to achieve them. I am still a very visual dependant learner and often learn from my mistakes. I see myself in the future as someone that is smart at what I choose to proceed in at life. I think my grades in the future will go up a bit because it will be on topics that I want to learn about.

My key life lessons are that nothing beats hard work and if you treat others with respect, they will generally treat you with respect. Hard work and effort are the main aspects that lead to “lucky” things happening. Good things don’t just fall into people’s laps, the ones that have the most “luck” generally are those that put in the most effort and work. Also, I have learned that when you truly respect those around, they will respect you back and life is much easier when you aren’t doing things behind each other’s backs.…

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

I also knew it, but I was lazy and careless. I am thankful that I have grown up and that I have begun to respect all of the opportunities given to me in life. The areas that I have improved in are definitely my study habits, and not being afraid to ask my teachers for extra help. I used to be afraid that my teachers would think I am stupid, and that they would judge me if I admitted to them that I didn’t know how to do something, or that I couldn’t do a problem. But I have recently grown to realize the it is essential to the learning process to ask your teacher 's question.…

Overcoming my Struggles As a little boy, going to bed was the best part of the night. It is when your eyes are hanging low and you are doing everything you can to stay awake to hear a story that your mother reads to you before she tucks you in bed. Hearing and understanding words as a little boy was not that hard for me. I could comprehend words and say them, but as I started to go to school my parents knew something was not right. In my opinion, my struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) continue to be a challenge with the struggles I had before I found out about my diagnoses, finding out about my Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) changing the way I did things, and continuing to overcome my challenges I have with Attention Deficit…

The first time in my 18 years on this earth that I can say that I really experienced failure was during my freshman year of high school when I tried out for the basketball team. I came into my freshman year of high school thinking I was very prepared for freshman basketball. I thought I was prepared because I had played aau basketball previously for multiple summers and had known and played multiple times against the guys I was competing with for a spot. Well I thought wrong because during the first day of practice I was surprised by the intensity and realized I was out of shape.
