My elder interview impacted me by how he didn’t become a soldier and became service man and how he was lucky not getting captured by the North Vietnamese. My grandpa motivated me to keep on working hard even if it’s not your job or responsibility. The interview that impacted me is Cap van Nguyen. He was drafted and went in the army. He was not afraid of war, bombs, and gunshots. But he was afraid of mosquito bites the most. He wasn’t afraid, but confident in himself in the war. He taught me that be afraid doesn´t mean to give up, but to keep going forward and face your fears head on. Lt. Col. Robert J. Friend also impacted me because

My key life lessons are that nothing beats hard work and if you treat others with respect, they will generally treat you with respect. Hard work and effort are the main aspects that lead to “lucky” things happening. Good things don’t just fall into people’s laps, the ones that have the most “luck” generally are those that put in the most effort and work. Also, I have learned that when you truly respect those around, they will respect you back and life is much easier when you aren’t doing things behind each other’s backs.…

My Grandmother is not that old being 65 but she had to experience being poor growing up, having a job at an early age and growing up very quick being the oldest child. I consider my father a courageous man as well who, regardless of his fear, overcame his disease. Although he did not cure his illness or miraculously improve his condition, he retained his tenacious warrior spirit throughout his 5-year battle. Consequently, the strength displayed to me from a young age has undoubtedly shaped my character to become more courageous. Due to courage not being something I typically used at the time when describing myself, as it did not seem to apply in day to day life, developing into a resilient person who could accomplish my goals, even with a mountain of fears, did not occur overnight. In an attempt to lift my spirits one day, my mother had presented Gehrig’s farewell speech to me.…

I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. Being a part of a rigorous band program where success is all that we strive toward, all the while maintaining suitable grades in my advanced classes is what’s going to give me the foundation to start my life on.…

Losing someone you watched suffer in their last days on earth doesn’t feel anything like losing a friend that was your age who had their whole life ahead of them, and losing both in less than a 2 month span doesn’t help either. The year of 2013 wasn’t the best year for me nor any of my classmates. For me it actually started when I was in the seventh grade, my mom received the rights to take care of my ill grandfather (her father). Turns out he was suffering from early age dementia; caused from drinking at an early age which happened to be 12.…

I remember the question from my kindergarten class like it was yesterday, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Of course at the time, I wanted to be a princess, vet, rock star, teacher, or doctor. I’d stand up, proud with a smile on my face, and rattle off the list. Looking back on that moment in time, I would’ve never guessed what my dream was going to be. I was always the kid looking to help others, go the extra mile, make adjustments, and put a smile on your face.…

A motif that haunts the months of college applications and preparation is the daunting idea of seniors entering into the "real world." An alleged, new realm of reality that discredits the validity of the last few years in high school, not to mention the three before that and all the experiences previously. This concept coincides seamlessly with the idea that college is a beacon of newfound adulthood. Even so, each student's differing personality, aspirations, culture and tribulations falsifies the belief that adulthood is that straightforward. Thus, in order to define the moment that marked my transition into adulthood, I must first define what being an adult means to me.…

The first time senior project was ever introduced to me was actually my freshmen year. At the time of course I did not really think much about it because I just knew it was so long away and I had so many other things to do in the meantime like junior internship and a numerous amount of classes in high school, as well as the college. Honestly I did not put a whole lot of thought into it until the summer before my senior just because I knew it was a while away.…
