What I learned from my interview is that everything you are going to learn and every advice from your family, especially your parents, during your childhood can have a big impact on your future. It does not matter if you live in the richest or poorest country in the world because your infant hood can change you mentally, physically (of course) but also financially. Here is my mother example:
During the interview, I learned that my mom had good grades and memories at school. All she learned from her teachers made her mind clearer about her future. By being one of the best students, she could have big opportunities and earn a living. Her work got her around the world, especially in Switzerland and Canada, and now has a job she loves and pays well.
When she was young, her parents would say to her, every day before heading to school, that she and her sibling would go to school to learn and there is no time for playing. She took this saying seriously and today she is proud of what she accomplished. Her parents did not how to read or write. She completed her scholarship with success and her parents felt somehow that they did too. It means that her

She also thought how her future family would look like. She ended up living in Canada, as a teacher, with two children and her Haitian husband. It has been ten years since she went to her native country. She knew that living back in Haiti was not option, but she realized that being in another country made her pursue other dreams. Dreams she could not have done in Haiti because she did have the equipment or the money. Now, she is taking guitar lessons and she enjoys it. Maybe she did not complete some of her child dreams, but she did something else. Something her old self would have never have done or

Throughout Jeanette Wall’s memoir The Glass Castle, the author utilizes diverse and creative language, diction, and style to convey themes about nonconformity and self-sufficiency, while teaching strong lessons on individuality, endurance, and strength. Although both of Jeanette’s parents, Rose Mary and Rex, are irresponsible, selfish, and reckless, they did instill valuable life lessons and reflect meaningful sentiments onto their children, Lori, Jeanette, Brian, and Maureen. Rex Walls creates false pretenses to replicate a lifestyle of wanderers or explorers and to make up for insufficient income; however, he inspires young Jeanette radically and becomes a catalyst for her hopes, dreams, and uniqueness. The parents manage to teach their kids to be thoughtful, intelligent, brave, and hardworking, despite suffering and unfavorable conditions.…

AN EXEMPLARY LIFE A person who lives an exemplary life is someone others can look to when identifying ideals they value. This exemplary person is not faultless, but ultimately lives a life others notice and can model their own lives after. When thinking about a person like this, I immediately considered Alice Blackwell, the main character of Curtis Sittenfeld 's novel, “American Wife.” Over the summer I read this book multiple times and I realized the tale was so grabbing because of how much I admire Alice’s character.…

The first time I met Ally was in the lunchroom. Naive sixth graders don’t know where to sit; they just plop their bodies with the first people they see so that’s exactly what I did with her during the first week of middle school. Through the course of the three years in middle school, I’ve definitely had my ups and downs with her- numerous times we’ve fought and forgave, and although she left KIS last year, I still keep in touch with her over Skype and Snapchat. It’s been four years since my first impression of her, and of course, she has matured, but the image of her “jagalchi hair” bobbing up and down, looking wide-eyed is still, to this day, engraved in my brain as what defines Ally. What surprised me was that the young, innocent girl that…

The first interview was my grandmother age (73); she was born and raised in a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico, an indigenous state; her parents were farmers and they were constantly migrating to different regions of the state until they finally settle in a small village. The second interview was my godfather age (51) born and raised and currently living in Mexico City; his family moved to the city in reach of better opportunities a few generations back. Both of the interviewees were interviews by phone. I chose them because I wanted to see how gender affects your experience in becoming an adult and also because I wanted to see the…

Unsure of the future that awaits her. She was like any high school student trying to raise money to get out of town, desperate for prince charming to run her way in his shining armor, and a pool of money to fall from the sky. I liked talking to her, she’s real and straight to the point, almost like a big sister I never had.…
