As any other, typical high school student, I was confused in which career I wanted to go into. I looked for clarity by discussing with guidance counsellors, friends and parents. Originally, my mom tried to encourage me in becoming a French teacher (to use my abilities to speak fluent French to my advantage) but I never really saw myself doing that for the rest of my life. Sadly, nobody really seemed to have any helpful advice other than "what are your interests?" Honestly, I was not really sure.…

Starting my journey with post-secondary education in high school has allowed me to realize how important it is to continue with these classes after high school is done. These classes have been an essential stepping stool into helping me prepare for not only college, but also for the challenges that I will experience later on. With continuing on with these classes in college, I will be able to acquire my bachelor’s degree followed by a three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, which will open doors and broaden my opportunities, that might otherwise not be possible. College will open my eyes to the world and show me the many different types of people, places, and opportunities that there are to experience. I expect college to prepare…

Money has always been something that my family has had to worry about. As it is my senior year, my parents have begun to worry about how we are going to pay for college. We’ve never had enough money each month to regularly put some into a college trust fund so we don’t have a buffer for when the expenses start rolling in. My father is the only one that works and of course, I plan to work as well but without extra support, I know it won’t be enough.…

I became involved with the math club at Spaulding after a friend in my home room suggested I come to a meeting after school. After attending, I realized math club might have been a somewhat misleading name. While we certainly did some math, it wasn’t at all like the math I would do in class. Math club was more focused on the competitive aspect of math. We would do problems to prepare for various competitions in the state.…

Over the past three years, I have been greatly influenced by the children with whom I have had the opportunity to work. My involvement in children's programs, during past summers and all year-round, have made my student life easier, by giving me the guidance to pursue a post-secondary education in the field of health, focussing on that of children and adolescents. I have spent the past three summers volunteering, then working, at a community children's camp, with kids aged three to 11. In addition, I have worked for the past two years as a student teacher at a religious centre. These two jobs, in particular, have given me great opportunities to bond with the children.…

I did not see myself attending college after high school, even though a small part of me wanted to for the social aspect and because I actually enjoy learning new things. I didn't have much guidance from my elders, they were more caught up with taking care of my younger siblings. K was working low paying jobs just barely surviving and I knew I could do something bigger with my life, so I attempted to attend a trade school for visual communications, with no luck since I could not find time to work to pay rent, and attend school simultaneously, and all I acquired was an extremely damaging…
