Personal Narrative: What I Did This Summer

Decent Essays
What I Did This Summer! I went to my lake house on Lake Shafer. My lake house is near Buffalo. I went fishing a lot. I went fishing with a baitcaster. My first time was hard but then I finally learned. We usually caught bluegills to set catfish lines. Our biggest catfish was 37 pounds. I also went wakeboarding. I love to wakeboard. Wakeboarding is very tricky. It is all about your balance. I try to jump but I am not that good yet. If you are off balance and fall forward the wakeboard will rip off your feet. I also swam this summer. We would go on the pontoon and then go to the beach. My family and I would hang out there all day with friends. Me and my brother always play catch with a football. There is also a rope swing at the beach too.

Every year more and more shoes where added to the old crippled willow tree. Any shoe you could think of was up there, even the really expensive ones like Jordans. The shoe tree was one of the most memorable thing from the long drives up to Boyne City Michigan. Driving into the touristy town was always my favorite part, smelling the fudge, hearing the waves crash against the docks and seeing all the seagulls flying around. As you kept heading down the main road following it to all its curves and loops you would run into my Grandparents house.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

On the comfortable seat of the boat, I could see the thousands of barn swallows in the distance. I could hear the roar of the 1400 horsepower engine of the boat, the feeling of the humid air around the docks, and the scent of the hotdog stand up on the sidewalk. I was on the boat with my mom, dad, aunt, brother and sister, and my cousins. It was in the heat of the summer at the hottest part of the day in the Wisconsin Dells. The driver was spinning the boat around and doing what he called a, “power stop", and water was splashing in.…

I was sitting at the kitchen table, eating chips and salsa, as I usually did when I get home from school. I was exhausted from a long day of high school. This was last year, when I was still going to public school. My school was in Purcellville, with by car is only 30 minutes away, but on the bus there were other children in other neighborhoods that had to be dropped off first. I was always the last one off the bus because I lived the farthest away, which meant I was always the first one on the bus in the morning.…

Bruises, breaks, fractures; all the things that I had seen happen one day in my school. I lived in a good area with a loving mother and a well-funded school, you would think that my High school would be a calm place to learn and grow safely. Sadly, this is untrue, on the first three days of my freshman year there were at least two fights a day. I could not understand, at the time what could have change so much in those I cared about. It could not have been just puberty, because it doesn't change you into a completely different person, and these classmates were displaying behaviors completely different to who they were.…

So it was about three weeks before Spring Break and I had to make up my mind about what I was to do because I didn’t want to be cooped up in the house like I do annually anyways. My cousin Josiah had opened that opportunity up for me. He had asked me if I wanted to go to New York with him over the Spring Break and meet my other family. At first, I paid him no mind because I thought he was buffing until his mom called me and asked if I was coming or not.…
