Personal Narrative: What Doesn T Kill You Stronger

When I was younger I thought the tiny scars and disgusting bruises was something hard to overcome. What I “overcame” was nothing compared to what would happen in January of 2008. This event made me the person I am today. A person wanting to help make people chipper, even just a little can go a long way. On January 23, 2008 a small 8 year old girl watched her dad take his last breath as cancer claimed his body. The once high-spirited girl exited the hospital with grief like no other. Not even noticing plump raindrops that scattered around her somber family. This would be unusual for the girl to not play in the rain but given the circumstances it didn’t seem right. So for once she walked stiffly to the car with her head down as sniffles emitted her body. An yes the little girl was me if you haven’t figured it out already. Going through that pain, a pain that just wouldn’t go away was unbearable. Looking on unknown to others as he was wheeled out Christmas morning never to come home again was painful. An I believe getting a college degree is one of the things I need to do to set myself up on a path to help. And if i see people going through something I want to be able to help in anyway I can. He wanted me to learn even if I can’t learn from him anymore I still carry his lessons from him today and wish I could have learned more. I was taught to try my hardest and then some. This made me driven but to enjoy this crazy rollercoaster called life because you never know what's going to happen in the future. I want to make a difference a good one on this planet. It may sound cliche but it’s true and i’m going to make it happen and I was wondering if you can

After watching some gameplay videos for the new ps4 game Until Dawn, I was reminded of a strange term I had once heard, the butterfly effect. Upon seeing this, I decided to do some research to find out more about it. The Chaos theory more commonly called the butterfly effect summarized by Edward Lorenz is a branch of mathematics that deals with complex systems whose behaviour is highly sensitive to slight changes in conditions, so that small alterations can give rise to strikingly great consequences. With this, I thought a many life decisions that I had made, both large and small and thought of how they affected my life and how different my life would be if I had chosen to take another path. I am a Christian and with further thought, came to…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

The Arrival I had originally planned to travel to Rio on September 5th through September 12th. A perspicacious and experienced hunter named Rainsford accompanied me. It was nighttime when I first spotted land of any sort. It was vaguely visible and was opaque, so misty that even Rainsford couldn’t see it. Utterly tired, I began drifting off, dreaming of the adventures we were soon to face.…

Pinned to my bulletin board are hospital bracelets overlapping snips of grades from past assignments. Most of the momentos anchored onto that slice of cork are meaningless; stickers from my sister, a couple receipts for textbooks, and a cool cactus patch from my hat, but everytime I look up at that board I have a visual reminder of how much of a survivor I have…

When is it okay to be vulnerable? If you ask my father the answer is never. Maybe I should follow his advice and never be vulnerable. But If I took his advice more often I wouldn’t have ended up at a college 366.16 miles away from home. Change is not something I excel at.…

Gaining Strength “10/325 hydros, five dollars for two, want a bottle? Ill give you 30 for 45 dollars, I’m desperate for money.” My arms vibrated like a Ford truck on an old dirt road. The air around me is cold; I can feel goosebumps forming on my arms. When I remain inside the closet for another five minutes, or at least, what I think is five minutes, I scramble briskly on the ground, my ripped jeans scraping on the dirty flooring. I reach over into the small closet, filled with lab equipment, and tug at the small satchel that has kept me alive. Inside, there are a few items but they’re all I have. Night vision goggles, a water purifier, a gun, canned fruits, and a small note.…

I woke up to the sound of the invariable alarm as I do every day vroom, vroom, vroom. Even though my body was screaming NO, my mind knew that consistency was key to sanity. With pure self discipline, rummaging through my laundry in the dark, I got dressed and tiptoed my way out the door. It was so quiet, I’ve never seen the hallway so empty, it was creeping me out, I noticed as I went down the elevator to the gym. Oh god, let’s do this.…

A Few Words, A Lifetime Difference My entire perspective changed in the span of a single conversation. That day, like all the others, followed the same boring routine: wake up, go to school, go home, do whatever, eat, do whatever, then go to bed.
