Personal Narrative-What Doesn T Describe Me

Improved Essays
All my life I’ve been asked to describe myself. I always replied with the answers I assumed were “right” and “impressive”, words such as, outgoing, and intelligent, but those words don’t describe me. Words don’t describe me, actions do. You learn more about a person by observing how they act and what they participate in than they could ever try to explain.
I was always the kid in class who finished all her work and excelled on all the tests. I was eventually labeled the nerd but I enjoyed being smart. I loved the accomplished feeling after completing the assignment first and getting it all right. This stayed with me all through high school, but as I got older I wanted to venture into other activities, which led me to sports.
My parents introduced me to soccer when I was 8 and have been playing ever since, but that’s not all. Once I started middle school I participated in many other sports such as, volley and track. I played volleyball and ran track for my mother, and although I enjoyed both sports I didn’t excel in them as I did in

As soon as I got to high school I became one of those students. I was accepted into the National Honor Society, joined the junior world affairs association, DECA, and Student Council. Although it was a lot to take on I enjoyed all the community service and participating in gift exchanges at football games. I never envisioned myself as an active part of my school’s student body until now. I can proudly say I have multiple leadership positions in many of the clubs I’m in, including captain of the soccer team and Vice President of NHS and many others. Taking on these leadership roles have gifted me the confidence I didn’t have as a quirky child. I’m confidence in my work ethic, my academics and my athletic abilities. I feel more prepared to take on higher levels of education and challenge myself in all

I am a proud Christian. I go to Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield and have been for basically my entire life. I believe that because my parents took me to church pretty much ever since I was born, that it’s the reason I have very straight forward morals and beliefs. I also believe it has had a major impact on who I have become as a person. I’m caring and loyal, the person my friends come to, to get things off their chest that they don’t feel like they can share with others.…

Who am I? That is a very deep question. I think the only way I can answer that truthfully is by saying, I do not know exactly who I am, but I know who I want to become. I want to become a well rounded individual, someone who everyone likes and looks up too. I want to be someone my family can be proud of.…

When asked to define myself in one paper, I find it hard to show the details that I want to in the right light. When asked about my future after high school, I also have a hard time describing everything I want to get done because there are far too many things to name. The quote “ _____” (i want to be everyone and do everything and there isn’t enough life to do it all in) describes me to a tee, and I believe this college is the place I could do this in. Being a shy person for most of my life, many things were difficult for me. Specifically, last summer I had the opportunity for a summer job.…

I know I am a workaholic and I am trying to get away from this I am learning to delegate and put my foot down, especially saying “No”. I know I have always felt satisfied when I kept doing more and endlessly tiring myself. I know I have been encouraged by my own self to be me, to be straight with people and with my own self; my own wants and feelings rather than crooked and covert. In this manner I am learning to understand what I want and possibly how to get it.…

I began high school playing volleyball, and as the season came to an end, I was uncertain of my next step. Many friends encouraged me to do winter track, but I was very hesitant. One day after school, I timidly approached the coach to introduce myself and get a feel for the team. To my surprise he was the upperclassmen psychology teacher; he read right through me. He told me I would be a good addition to the team, so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go out for the team.…

Just like every other kid, I was put in many sports to find the one I loved and was passionate about. Although I did not like all the sports my parents put me in, soccer had a huge impact on me. As a little kid it was not as aggressive but I was always looking for competition. Being on a team so young I ended up making lifetime friends. When I got older I was involved in more sports such as volleyball and cross country.…

I was never a sporty kid. For the majority of my childhood, my hobbies have included reading, playing video games, and other generic nerd activities. If you had asked me if I wanted to play a sport, I would have laughed at the prospect, so I surprised even myself when I answered yes to my mother’s inquiry about joining my school’s new flag football team. I worried about it for the weeks leading up to the first practice, but eventually I decided “Why not? It may end up being fun.”…

I can tell that Natalie and I are growing apart so when she randomly invited me to her house I accepted as she’s the only friend whose house I’m allowed to go to. When I step in I’m greeted by her mother who has the most beautiful brown skin I’ve ever seen, she’s practically glowing, her long curly black hair with soft brown undertones that glistens in the sun, she wore all white and matched her red kitten heels with her lipstick. Her room is almost identical to a princess palace and I can’t help but compare it to my own which is bare with no posters, the only property I’m fond of is my pink quilt cover with a doll design. As she opens her wardrobe out pours her nail vanish and Barbie doll sets, my eyes widened and struggling to control my…

As a child, I grew up playing soccer. On my father’s side of the family my uncles as well as my father were fanatics of the sport. Both my father and my uncles raised my siblings, cousins, and myself to play and love the sport. Soccer was an intense sport in my family; we would get together and have scrimmages usually once or twice a week against ourselves or other teams. I also had soccer practice on weekday evenings and games Saturday mornings.…
