December 17, 2009, one cold, chilly morning. The sky seemed covered with a layer of gray yarn; the snowflakes like the thousand butterflies flies toward the windows, some naughty hitted the one side of window glass, and some danced to the other side. I stepped into a brown building and straight to the main office. After I registered, a lady with an amiable smile, who I know laterly as Mrs. White, greeted me with a zealous voice “ Welcome to Hillside Middle School, Yiwen.” My first school day in United State was begin.

Mrs. White tried to use the simplest English to communicate with me while accompanied me to the first class, and I smiled and nodded my head to appreciate her effort, but no one notice that the sound of cracking my knuckles had betray my relaxed mood. I could feel they were observe me; in this primarily white school, my color is enough to ignite their curiosity. My English teacher, Mrs. Bell swiftly strided from the back of the room with a genial greeting, just like the one of Mrs. White, and then she ask me to if I would like to introduce myself. Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 I did my observation of Paul Dunbar Middle School. Some of the first things I noticed when I entered the school was how enormous the school’s population is and how the school was mostly Hispanic and African American students. I arrived at the front desk and was asked by the assistant principal what was my preference of classroom. She then proceeded to take me the section of the school where the ESE classes are held. ESE stands for exceptional student education classes.…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

It was my first day of kindergarten, I walked to the entrance of the school. The rose-red brick church stood with the sun at its back, exaggerating the facade of a refuge. The transparent door gave me a glimpse the enjoyable atmosphere. Unaware of the hell I was getting myself into, I opened the door and took my first step into the school. Ring the door sung and almost instantaneously, what was once an enjoyable atmosphere changed into a cold, malicious hell.…

Indeed, I decided to join the chess club, also known as the only club that was big in that school year. Anyhow, to begin to understand just how enormous the change the chess club provided it is important to understand that prior to the club Esperanza Middle School had earned no trophies. Even more, the chess club was the first club that participated in tournaments that were run by the city, not to mention the fact that I was the first one to earn a trophy in one of those tournaments. Even though the chess team provided a space for me and my friends to engage it was also…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…
