Incident #1: Weapon on School Grounds In the 6th grade, when I was 12 years old, I made the stupid decision of bringing a knife to school. No one knew what I had planned. On the school bus on the way to school, I showed a young lady I went to school and church with the knife, she was in 8th grade. 20 minutes into my first period a dean came and got and it wasn’t until I was in the resource officer’s office that I realized that the person I showed the knife to had told on me. I wrote an affidavit and had to stay in the school resource officer’s office until school was finished. Then the officer detained me at the school and my parents came and got me from the school. No one but the 8th grader I told and the resource officer saw the knife, I never pulled it out or used it. I made this stupid because I was being bullied by a male student in my grade and when I said something back to him he …show more content…
It was yet another stupid decision I made in a moment of adrenaline. During my time of expulsion, I went to PACE Center for Girls and it was a wonderful program that changed my life for the better. In conclusion in regards to both incidents, there were mistakes I made as a child. I have always been account for these mistakes and I have learned from them and ever since have been a law-abiding citizen with the exceptions of a couple speeding tickets. I hope that my transparency and honesty speak towards my character and integrity and also that my academic, personal, and professional experiences attest to the changes I have made in my life. I am not my mistakes, but they are a part who I am and have made me a better person in everywhere possible. I hope that I am accepted into this program an intern to make a difference in the lives of children who I have made mistakes

Grades not Glocks When you hear names like Virginia Tech, Oregon, Columbine, and Sandy Hook they may bring back sad memories and deep feelings of sorrow, but those terrible incidents should not try to be avoided in future instances by giving anyone the possibility to carry a deadly firearm. As a college student concerned about the recent campus carry law that was passed in Texas, 2015, that allows anyone who is old enough for a concealed weapon permit to carry a firearm with them while on university grounds, I find is necessary to express my concern. The thought of allowing guns to be accessible to the majority of faculty and students in a learning environment brings a lot of red flags to mind, and raises my distress that there should be…

SEA: Weapons within the school With the recent and well-known school shootings that have shocked our nation, we have witnessed a perceived increase in school violence. This increase can partially be attributed to the rise in violence in the community in general. While a school has no influence on the disciplinary action taken on adult citizens, schools can help maintain the safety and well being of their students by disciplining those who are violent or who threaten violence. Zero tolerance policies are created with the best interest of the majority in mind yet; they can propagate collateral damage that may lead to more problems for all stakeholders involved, as well as neglect the rights of the offender.…

Licensed gun owners are 5.7 times less likely to be arrested for a violent offense than the general public. A hot topic of debate among college students today is wether or not they should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon on campus. Although some believe that having guns on campus would create an atmosphere of fear and paranoia amongst the students, the threat of a wild west type shootout are minimal at worst. Students and faculty with a conceal and carry license should be allowed to carry a weapon on campus because license holding gun owners are less likely to commit a serious crime involving a weapon, having a weapon and the training required to get a license could help a women defend herself from a much bigger and stronger attacker, and armed citizens can stand as a…
