Smith.” The day arrived that I would have to do something significant. During a men’s meeting, with other churches, Deacon Simms motioned my way and said, “go teach the men about leadership from the bible.” That day is forever etched in my memory. Teaching from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Arguably explaining that as a leader, you must believe that you can accomplish any task when God is your guide. I could use my bible for references being that I was the new kid. Once completed, Deacon Simms didn’t say a word, but his simple nod to me showed the approval. Later, he shared, “I didn’t disappoint, I didn’t embarrass him, and more importantly I didn’t disappoint or embarrass God.” “One of the greatest …show more content…
Joshua, Gideon, and David are the mentors assigned when there is a battle raging in my calling. Each of these warfighters had their flaws, however, they depended on God to fight the battle. David amid his troubles had to encourage himself (1st Sam. 30:6); Gideon decided to throw out his fleece (Jud. 6:37); Joshua commanded to march around a wall (Jos. 6). At any rate, these men followed Gods instructions to become successful and honored. These men were winners in all they accomplished. 7 Practices of Effective Ministry comments, “Everyone wants to be a part of a winning team. But the reverse is also true: People tend to stop showing up when an organization is not winning. Nothing will empty seats faster than a losing streak. Players can complain about fair-weather fans, and owners can pour millions into slick ad campaigns, but the best way to fill seats is to win.” God has designed us to be winners.
Lastly, I am shaped to lead, pastor, and teach. During the Spiritual Transformation Inventory (STI)®, the Myers & Briggs Type Indicators (MBTI)®, Uniquely You Survey®, and the Diablo Valley College (DVC) Learning Styles Inventory®, I learned more about who I am and why I am. Each survey provided clear insights on my persona. Although some points I was aware that I possessed, I gain new perspectives about myself. For instance, with DVC Learning Styles, I gained a new assessment on how I learn. This will enable me to not only learn efficiently but to teach in an improved

During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. Once we finally set up an OP (observation post) we had a team go out and recon the village and we established a plan on how we were going to attack the village. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

She was one of the girliest girls I knew since grade school, with her stylish culottes and pink garments of all different shades for all different occasions. She was the epitome of a mixture between pure innocence and quirk that boldly took her rightful place in the middle of my heart. Mary Anne wasn’t just all of that; she was also my affectionate girlfriend, my warm-hearted best friend who I could talk about anything with, from the most trivial things to the very meaning of our whole existence. William Booth received his Call to establish a ministry that had no resemblance to the ministry of his day. His call and passion was to the poor and not to visions of grandeur.…

Servant Orientation Another element or characteristic of a Pauline leadership theory includes an orientation toward service. In his letter to the Romans, Paul calls himself “a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle […](Romans 1;1), while indicating that he is “obligated” (Romans 1:14) to those he has been called to share the Gospel. This is unmistakably an element of Paul’s own perspective of his role as an apostle, and as a servant of Christ. This duality of mission and obligation to those who are in need of the Gospel define his orientation toward service.…

Introduction into this book and videos covers how we need to set long term goals, but before doing so we need to ask ourselves some questions. Before we can set those goals we should seek to know Christ. This can be done by reading the four gospels and seeing what Jesus did, what we can learn from him, and how does it relate to us? Jesus’ last commandment was to go and make disciples, and while principles never change, our methods have to change in order to reach the current generation, and each beyond. As we get into the chapters we learn that men are God’s method and while they may seem unlearned or ignorant by man’s standards, God uses those willing to learn and raises them into leadership.…
