I attended a speaker event representing Land O’Lakes Inc. on October 25, 2016 from 6 PM to 7 PM in Blegen Hall, which was presented by Adam. To briefly discuss about the speaker’s education, he finished his undergraduate degree in History and is currently an MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with a particular focus on supply chain management. One of the reasons he decided to join the Carlson School of Management to pursue a graduate degree is to seek more career opportunities as he could not find a job within his field after his graduation from college. Besides his academic career, he has a five-year work experience in the Land O’Lakes. Inc.…

Standing outside the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room after Game 5 of the Stanley Finals against the Nashville Predators I had never been more excited of the career path I chose. The adrenaline and anticipation as we wait for the locker room to open up for interviews only makes me more excited as I know I will be the only woman with a camera pushing and shoving for that perfect shot. Getting to see my favorite team get to the Stanley Cup Finals and being able to film every step along the way is a moment I will always remember and being able to be a part of history as the Penguins clench the series and win back to back cups. The parade that followed was unreal as all of Pittsburgh turned out for the team and there I was filming every moment. These two moments are only a few that have made me want to work in the sports industry as a cinematographer, editor, or producer.…
The day I came to Job Corps, I remember leaving my house while my whole family was crying because I was leaving. The reason why they were crying is because I had never gone away from home before. Even though they were sad, at the same time they were happy because I was moving on with my life to better myself. It was hard for my dad to let me go because I am the oldest daughter and I have never separated from my dad. My little sister and my brother were crying too.…
My favorite job by far has been my internship as a career mentor in the Office of Career Development at my school. As a career mentor, my primary duties are to help students with resume/cover letters, job/internship search and just general life goals questions. This internship has made realize why I love working with students. It’s such a great feeling when a student comes and they may be confused about their major or how to make a resume for a job; but by the end of the your time with them, you just see this light bulb go off in their head and they have this look of “I understand”. Even though it may be a very small interaction, I feel like I have made a small difference in their lives and I have helped them somehow.…
My response to this selection is that Hornak made right decision, even though it took her long time to realize, but it would be hard for me If I were to change my career. It would be hard for me because I know I spent a lot time to study and it costs me a lot too. But I personally believe that we all need money, but I would also want to pick the major that I would enjoy in and which would make me proud. For instance, I like to help others…
Growing up thinking about a career I wanted to pursue was difficult. It varied from a tattoo artist all the way to where I am now with nursing being my main focus. It wasn’t until recently over the past three years when I realized this. Since my sophomore year I have managed for one of my high school sports. My sophomore and junior years I managed for volleyball.…
Three careers that would be well suited for me are a cost estimator, an operations research analyst, and a conservation officer. Two of these careers involve quantitative thinking and mathematical skills, while the third career involves enforcing laws and regulations and working outdoors. Due to my interest in working outdoors I have chosen conservation officer as the best career opportunity for me. The first job I researched is a cost estimator. I researched this job because it involves mathematical skills on a daily basis.…
The idea of being told that I had to work for the first time made me want to eat glass; but could it possibly have turned out for the better? In England, when you reach 10th grade you participate in a nationally accepted program called 'Work Experience'. ' Work Experience' is when you work just like you would if you were legally an adult except with this program it only lasts a week. After 2 weeks of tireless searching I landed a job at Ariya Capital; an experienced developer and investor in clean energy and infrastructure projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It was actually much more advanced than any job I ever thought of getting.…
My sophomore year I made the biggest decision in my high school experience. I made it into Miami Valley Career Technology Center, and I decided to switch to that school. I ended up choosing to go to MVCTC because I knew it would be the best opportunity for me. This school would allow me to have a fresh start in a more mature setting. This school allowed me to get a jump start on my career in criminal justice.…
Each year during the fall semester there are multiple opportunities for students to apply to work for or interview with the company of their dreams. There is serious preparation involved in the process to appear as a perfect candidate for a desired company. Starting from my freshman year at Michigan State, I have taken various steps to prepare myself for the career fair. During my freshmen year I was required to attend the career fair for a grade, thus resulting in an early start to my career fair preparation process. When preparing for the career fair, I begin with the essential step of researching the companies that I will meet with, which companies I would like to interview with, and where in the Breslin Center my desired company booths will be located.…
My career goals are to be successful and to change the current status of women around the world. This would not be easy as many have tried, but I believe that technology will be able to change the lives of many. I developed these goals through experiences with narrow-minded family members that do not believe that I am able to achieve all the I have because I am of the female…

To whom this may concern, I am interested in being an occupational therapist. Growing up, I have always known that I wanted to go into the medical field. At first, being a surgeon sounded great, but then I realized that seeing blood does not do me well. After that, I thought that it would be better to looking into being a medical examiner. That also does not appeal to me very much because after awhile, the thought of being around dead bodies gave me the creeps.…
One must always expect the unexpected. When I watched the Karate Kid, I never took into account that the meaning would impact my job career as much as it has. The beginnings of job searching is fun and exciting. I was optimistic and thought every place I applied for would call me for an interview or the position. Needless to say, I was wrong.…
