Personal Narrative: Voting For Homecoming Court

Homecoming Court Voting for Homecoming Court had started about two weeks before homecoming, on a Wednesday. Jack and I had decided we were going to homecoming together. Everyone had decided to vote for Jack and I. Not realizing this, I wasn't expecting to be voted onto the list. People also voted for Breeana Bonnema, and Lauren Verlinde to be on the list. All of our classes on Friday were shortened because of the assembly that was being held in the big gym at 1:30. The people helping out with the assembly assigned each pair of us a song to dance to when we come out from behind the “curtain”. Our song was ABC by Michael Jackson. After everyone’s dances were over and we sat down, we started the newlywed game. They asked multiple questions, for example, one of the questions he asked was, “ladies, what is his best feature?” Jack had said his best feature was everything but it's really his hair. Shortly after the game was over, we did “The Rollercoaster”, which is a TK spirit cheer we do, with the gym lights off and our phone flashlights on. After our TK spirit cheer was over, and the school day was over, I left to get my crown from Mrs. Fischer and ran to my mom’s car so I could make it to my hair appointment. Ashley did an amazing job with my half up, half down hairstyle. Took almost an hour to finish my hair and put in my crown. Once we were done there we had to quick drive to my Aunt Nita’s house so she could do my makeup which took almost a half an hour. Running late, we hopped into the car and drove to Lee to meet everyone else for the parade that started at 5:00. For us, we had to be there early, around

I have always been independent, but I fully seeked independence when I was 16 years old. This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. The first step to my seeking of independence was turning 16 years old and getting my driver’s license. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

My time at Barnegat High School has helped me to become who I am today and will most defiantly impact what I will do in the future. The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist.…

As part of an old high school tradition, hundreds of students crowded into a dimly lit cafeteria and danced until the air hung heavy and sweat glistened off every square inch of exposed skin. The schools that began the tradition of the modern homecoming dance most likely did not expect it to evolve into what it is today; at some point, we, as students, lost the true purpose of the event and instead became preoccupied with image. Even though I would have liked to think that those things did not matter, I still found myself altering my appearance that Saturday night to try and show off the best version of myself. I was not alone; other females joined me amidst a pile of cosmetic products and styling tools, and we had the pictures to showcase…

If I were on the U.S. Supreme Court, I would decide Supreme Court cases based on common law, and not on my own personal beliefs. I would say I would be an activist and rule cases based on provided evidence and facts. Since the Constitution was written, the world has changed, and needs to be revised with different issues at hand in the present times. The “right to privacy” was not in the Constitution, but over the years established that the right to privacy is a basic human right. The court should at times make new necessary policy changes to uphold justice, as long as it doesn’t violate the Constitution.…
