In my education, I want neither too rigid of a core curriculum nor to loose of one. Yale has the perfect middle where there is a third part of the curriculum that is my choice, allowing me to study my other interests outside the range of my major. Also, after visiting Yale, I found the welcoming environment for which I was looking, especially with residential colleges. Having my residential college chosen for me is appealing as well as the great things in each of the colleges like the Buttery and movie theaters that I heard…

College students have to continuously experience stress because of their everyday obstacles. Several college students constantly have to think about exams, grades, tuition, bills, deadlines, and so much more (Peer, Hillman, Hoet, 2015, p. 93). There was a study trying to pinpoint the effects of stress on twenty college students, and three categories were identified: positive mental health effects, negative mental health effects, and negative physical health effects (Peer et al., 2015, p. 94). With positive mental health effects many students concluded stress was a good thing, and stress gave them even more motivation to succeed at whatever their goal was (Peer et al., 2015, p. 94). For negative mental health effects a few individuals concluded stress makes them feel angry, depressed, hopeless.…

When I got on the SEPTA 66 bus from Frankford Transportation Center, it was just another plain day for me. I spent a hearty amount of my day enjoying my biology class and falling asleep in my computer class. When I would get home, I’d either take a nap or try to do some homework for my online courses. I stepped on the bus, swiped my transpass, and sat at my usual spot on the bus; the three seater facing the backdoor. I see that across from me, there was a girl in a maroon catholic high school uniform on her phone.…

One of the challenges I’ve faced that was tough on me going through the tiers of the educational system was dealing with bullying that either happened to me or my friends while we either walked home, rode our bikes home, ate lunch, or simply got pushed around by those bigger than us while in school. The worst one to face was the most ironic as well, Brendan was the smallest bully we’ve encountered, but also our biggest problem as well. One day while we were simply walking our bikes home until we got to the place where we could ride on them, Brendan stopped us from walking along one day with his group of seven or eight more friends than we had. I remember the feeling of sheer fear when we saw him from all of the intense drama of just dealing…

Bullying has been an everlasting struggle in my life since elementary school. I could handle strange looks and sly remarks from a bunch of nine-year olds, but when I reached middle-school, the impact of other people’s words hit me in a new way. In 2011, I was an eleven year old girl at a brand new school; I was dating a twelve-year-old boy with a group of friends that called me ugly and gave me the nickname “beast.” The bullying of those three boys created a hole that ate up any self-confidence and happiness in my life. However, with the help of close friends and encouraging words, I decided to believe in myself and forget what they thought.…
