Personal Narrative: Valley Funfair

Improved Essays
My alarm went off and I jumped out of bed! Today was the day that I was going to Valleyfair with my choir! After throwing my hair in a ponytail, sliding on sandals and putting my contacts in, I was ready to hit the road. I grabbed my sunglasses and hopped in the truck with Sarah. We were off to Mrs. Holmstrom's house. The sun was hot, the air was sticky and we were ready for a good time. Crammed into the little mini van packed like a can of sardines, we hit the road. As we drove down the highway singing along to the radio, up ahead we spot Valleyfair. “Are you ready to go?” Mrs. Holmstrom said as we climbed out of the mini van.
“I was born ready,” I squealed with excitement.
After riding a few rides, we decided it was time to take a break.

When I was younger on my twelfth birthday I had been given two options that I would receive as a present. My mother would either take me to Six Flags or she would buy me a mini motorcycle. This was a difficult decision because, although I never been to Six Flags I’ve always wanted a motorcycle. I had asked for a motorcycle the year before but, she said no because it was too dangerous. Still until this day I wonder why she allowed me to get one a year later.…

Sit back, buckle up, and get ready to scream because I love roller coasters. My family and I go to Cedar Point about every month in the summer, and my dad and I go and ride everything in the park. It is just so fun! The one thing I really like about roller coasters is that there are little rides for the youth kids also. My least favorite thing is when I am not tall enough to enjoy a ride, which doesn’t really occur anymore.…

Growing up in Vail, I would often ride the chair lift with strangers and they would ask, “Where are you from?” I would reply “here.” The people I shared the chairlift with would tell me how lucky I was, but I would just smile politely and nod, unaware of my fortune. I had grown up in mountains and didn’t know anything different. As I have gotten older and been fortunate enough to have traveled outside of my familiar mountain range, I have realized how intensely beautiful mountains are.…

Every morning, I make a cup of café con leche and tune into channel 5’s jingle of Matt Goss’ “Lovely Las Vegas” at 5 am before I get ready to make my way Downtown — a modern piece of the desert amidst the heart of the valley. As I look up at the street after struggling to untangle my headphones on my way to the bus top, I encounter new faces and wonder where they are going. My destination is seeing the sunrise appear with the silhouette of the Stratosphere Casino on one side of the field and the Downtown skyline on the other as the bus drops me off on 7th Street to complete my long morning routine – only to repeat the same journey the next day. There are days in which I would like to skip out on my morning walks to catch up on a couple minutes…
