Personal Narrative: My Vacation In Las Vegas

I’m awoken by the sound of knocking at my bedroom door. “Time to get ready to leave.” my dad says though the door. It’s 2am in the morning, and I had only gotten two hours of sleep. My family and I were leaving to vacation in Las Vegas. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving 2015. We pile into Mom’s car, my Mom and Dad, little brothers, and me. Once we arrived at the parking lot, where the car was kept during our vacation, we unload our luggage from the car. then, we got in a shuttle buss. Being no earlier than 3am, in Colorado, it must have been below 32 degrees fahrenheit. The bus doors left a gap about an inch wide, and my dog’s breath is wormer than the heater. After a short wait for other people, we left for the airport. Arriving at Denver International Airport, we took care of our luggage. Then, we make our way to the TSA security lines. The lines were long, and guards stood everywhere you looked, sometime three or four of them together. A short time after getting in line my brother Andrew says “I gotta go to the bathroom.”. We asked the nearest …show more content…
The hallways had high ceilings, painted blue with clouds to look like the sky, lights shinned on it and were dimmed at night. The shop fronts were built to look like buildings, having extravagant architecture. One restaurant in the center had a “out door” sitting area, in the center circle where the hallways joined. The floor was stone bricks replicating european roads. We looked thought a few of the clothing shops, including a three story H&M with a live DJ. After a little shopping we sat down to eat at The Cheese Cake factory, I ordered a protein style burger, it was delicious. The meet thick and sizzling hot, the vegetables crunched they were so fresh and very juicy. Once we finished eating, we first went to check out a few more shops, then headed to The Bellagio for a fountain

Every morning, I make a cup of café con leche and tune into channel 5’s jingle of Matt Goss’ “Lovely Las Vegas” at 5 am before I get ready to make my way Downtown — a modern piece of the desert amidst the heart of the valley. As I look up at the street after struggling to untangle my headphones on my way to the bus top, I encounter new faces and wonder where they are going. My destination is seeing the sunrise appear with the silhouette of the Stratosphere Casino on one side of the field and the Downtown skyline on the other as the bus drops me off on 7th Street to complete my long morning routine – only to repeat the same journey the next day. There are days in which I would like to skip out on my morning walks to catch up on a couple minutes…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

One great memory in my life is my trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. I went and stayed with my girlfriend and her family, we drove over there in one truck it took us about 10 hours. The trip there seemed like it would never end, the first few hours we were all excited to get there but soon after that all we wanted to do is sleep. We stopped in a couple towns on the way there to either fuel up or just get something to eat. The food on the way there was pretty much chips, soda, and some food from Mcdonalds.…

Anxious to finally get my ticket and watch the production "Les Miserables" I would periodically check the front of the line. Waiting in line for about 10 to 20 minutes was tiring, the wind began to pick up and the rain fell, since I forgot my umbrella at the hotel I was forced to buy a cheap one off the corner. Another 5 minutes past and we were at the front of the line and by then my umbrella already turned inside out and had broken. Finally inside the warm building we took off our jackets and found our seats, we waited once more.…

On a cold, blustery February day, I found myself back in my hometown, broke, broken, alone and confused. In a daring escape, like something out of an old war movie, my mother had come to Phoenix and liberated me from my husband. In the dead of night, we packed up ten boxes and two suitcases, slipping away quiet as death, to board a plane early the next morning. In Phoenix, where I had been living for three years, it was warm.…

I turn around and realize that there is a line so long that there is no way I could squeeze between all of them to get on. I take a deep breath and walk forward. I make it to a row of seats with the number fifteen on the top. I try to huff my luggage up in the space above my seat, but my hands lost grip of the handle. The guy behind me catched it and heaved it up over my head and placed the luggage in the cabinet.…
