Personal Narrative: Urban Decay Eyeshadow In Lounge

Decent Essays
I was not expecting to receive an Ipsy bag this month because when I signed up a couple of weeks ago I was told I was on the waiting list and I have not heard anything or received any emails since then, but it was a nice surprise.

The bag itself was unexpected. When my boyfriend saw it, he asked if I got something from the 90s, and I have to agree that the graffiti style is outdated and not something I would expect on a makeup bag. Anyways, these were the items I received.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Lounge: I have been interested in trying Urban Decay's products, so I am glad I received one of their eye shadows. The eye shadow has 2 colors in 1, and the Lounge shade is a brick red with green shift.

Growing up in Brooklyn, in the early 90’s was one of the best experiences in my life. I remember the ice cream trucks, corner stores, fire hydrates being opened for the kids especially when there was a block party but most of all, the unity of families and neighbors. Many people will say “Brooklyn, only the strong survive” and I have lived by that phrase my entire life. It showed me the beauty of living in one of the boroughs that makes up New York City and has taught me to be a strong person. It’s not made for the weak.…

Chinatown has been run down and not been acknowledged by tourist or Chicagoans, so I want to bring that sense of community.…

The Dallas Museum of Art was the complete opposite of what I imagined it to be like. Before attending the museum, I had very low expectations. When I thought of “art museum” I imagined dusty walls lined with undiverse and outdated art. I imagined a place old couples went to because they had nothing better to do with their time. A place where the past lingered and grew old as civilization quickly moved on and forgot about it.…

My first official memory of New York would be taking place in the Bronx, summer of 2003. I was five years old sitting outside on the steps of our apartment building in the Grand Concourse, which is known as “The Project Village”. You could hear the Spanish music that blasted from the other apartment windows, and see the smaller kids like me getting ready to have relay races and actually enjoy the sun, and my favorite which was seeing the coquito man come up the hill with his truck. A coquito in english is simply an icee, and during the summer for one dollar it was a gift sent from above. I was actually running down the hill to meet the coquito man, who we called Papa Juan, and I was stopped by a police officer.…
