The day was stunning. It was bright, sunny, and had a light breeze that was like putting the cherry on top! I was 10, my last year at hidden lakes (4th grade). Our class was in extra recess time at the end of the day and Nick (my best friend) and I were playing four square with some other classmates. I was in the queen spot, one spot away from the king, who served the ball at the beginning of the match. All I was hoping for was that he would be there and nothing was wrong with his hand. I walked through the door of the school, not knowing what to expect. Turning to the 4th grade hall, I took a giant breathe, then started walking. There was no what if he wasn’t there yet, he was always there before I was. Sweating gallons of liquid, I walked through the door to see him, in a cast, but oddly, laughing in a conversation with another classmate! He turned to me and waved me over.
