It was a miserably hot day that seemed to stretch on forever. Jenn and I were all looking forward to a fun time at Steph’s house later that night. Two weeks had passed since the night Steph let us know she was going out of town. I hurried and rushed to finish dinner with my family. After I had been excused from the dinner table, I rushed upstairs and got together all of my potential outfits and make-up. I then walked three blocks to Jenn’s house, excited for the fun that was ahead of me. Jenn had all her things ready when I arrived, so we went to the bus stop and waited. The bus collected us minutes later and dropped us off on the corner. As we walked up to the large two-story house in the suburbs, I realized that we never fully figured out how we were going to get inside. It is not as if we had a key. We both walked around the house trying all the doors and windows. Nothing was open. As we were leaving the backyard, I noticed a doggie door. I went through the doggie door and unlocked the door so Jenn could come in. We immediately made ourselves at home in the master bedroom and started to get ready. Each of us called everyone that we knew to let them know the plan and to come over. This was going to be our night. Even though we were only fifteen, we had many connections to get alcohol, and of course those are the people we invited first. After several hours of getting ready, the sun was going down and it was time. It was about seven o’clock when the first group of people arrived. The boys walked in as I was sitting on the counter in the kitchen. Jamie set down a bottle of Jack Daniels, and I went to it. One shot, two shots, three shots and I hit the floor.
