You learn about loss, heartbreak, loneliness, and etc. Some people go through a state of depression. Like I did. I lost my first love to a friend, my grandfather had passed away, and that tied together created the loneliness. Everything fell apart in what seemed like all at once. So, soon, I had thoughts of taking my own life. I’m not at all proud of it, but I did. It went on for a while until one day I get a text at school from one of my best friend’s mother. She said that my friend was in the hospital because they tried to commit suicide. I spent the night with them at the hospital, we talked all night, and I got to know what they were feeling. It turns out that they had the same feelings of loneliness, loss, and heartbreak as I did. Then, there was me, too focused on my own problems to see it. I realized, after all that, that I was not the only one with heart-wrenching problems in their life. So like the superheroes in my favorite stories that also portray this sort of thing sometimes, I wanted fight on to set an example of hope and happiness for others. I wanted to let them know that they’re not

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…

Joseph Campbell, the creator of the hero’s journey, did a lot of research on ancient mythology. He discovered that many heroes travel the same paths to becoming a hero. Campbell decided that heroes come across many challenges that are put into stages and in those stages the hero grows closer to the reward at the end. I am definitely not a hero, but my journey of finding Christ and giving my life to him has absolutely made me into a better person overall. As I look at my journey of finding Christ, I see that it has many similarities to Campbell’s Hero’s Journey.…

“The Pro-Social Mission” If you think about what a superhero means to you, many answers may fly around like bravery, strength, or power. Very rarely do you ever hear about what exactly makes a superhero, super. In my opinion, I believe it is this pro-social mission that keeps them going on the never ending battle against the fight with evil. These other two qualities, power and identity just reinforce who the superhero is.…

Looking back at it, Spider-Man was my favorite superhero because he was able to take and give a beating. Realistically, Spider-Man was extremely strong for only being human and his crime fighting abilities are what caused the ladies to go crazy over him. During my youth, I bought all his gear and whatever merchandise I could guilt my mother into buying for me. I decided to aspire to become fit and acquire adequate fighting skills because then I would be just as respected and admired as my inspiration Spider-Man.…
