Personal Narrative: Timmy The Turtle

Improved Essays
“Ouch!” I yelped when my mom had to pour medicine on my knee. It all started at Countryside Elementary School in 4th grade. I was with my best friend Bri and my little pink turtle toy in my hand.

Bri and I say “If anybody touches Timmy,Timmy has a high risk of dying.”

We have been saying that for a while. I thought it was weird. Anyway I have been waiting all day for recess since the beginning of the day because Bri and I were going to protect our little toy named Timmy the Turtle.

Every time I looked at the clock it looked like it has been one long minute. I thought it was going to take the rest of my life. All I could hear was tick tock tick tock. It was the longest 30 minutes of my life.

Then Mrs.Abbott,my teacher announced “Put

My cheeks felt like the person with the sharpest nails in the world was pinching my cheeks.

When Bri finally came outside we went to where the 1st and 2nd grade cubbies are. We started inside the window and we saw a first grader walk by and she saw us. So we ducked down.We both wondered what she was doing but we did not say anything because we knew the other one was thinking the same thing.

Then this group of boys came over and it looked like they wanted something to do so we begged and begged if we could introduce Timmy to them

The recess teachers made me stay at school. Then I thought what my mom would think it they only put one bandage

When we were sitting back in the corner I had to ask the teacher for a bandage for like the third time.

Then this boy named Bryce whispered to me “That thing is going to get infected.
It was towards the end of the day but I was still scared.

When I got home and my mom saw that they only put one bandage and no water I could see in her eyes that she was not very happy. Then guess what my mom had to do. Put medicine on my knee because if I didn't it would get infected.

My mom said in a soft voice”It is not going to hurt.”

The next words that came out of my mouth was “Ohch!” “Owey!” and “That hurt!”

I had to wear this big white bandage pad thing for about a week and a half. There was a really big scab that I really wanted to pick. It was just sitting there asking me to pick it.

My mom told me”Do not pick your scab.

After a while I got used to it sitting on my knee with a big white thing on my knee. It hurt a little to bend it but I lived. I limed for a couple of days but it wasn't terrible. Do you know what would be terrible? Doing it all over

Before I knew what was happening, I was on the cold, hard floor. Confusion and embarrassment lingered within me, waiting to surface. To me, a five year-old girl, there were only two options at hand: stay on the floor and cry about the pain, or get up and deal with the situation. Ten minutes prior to this incident, I was content as I stood up in the spacious shopping cart, strolling along Cabela’s, the hunting and fishing gear superstore. Although hunting and fishing did not truly interest me, the taxidermied animal exhibits were fascinating, and contributed to why I enjoyed being at the store.…
