As I sat there I heard this strange sound. Like a whisper from a little girl right next to me. I shrugged it off as the wind blowing past my window. I got out, with my Remington 514 in hand, and started walking. Meandering down the trail, I started to hear something walking around in the timber next to me. I got to the first trap and everything was just like it was when I set it. I moved down the trail and all of the sudden it got cold. The air

As I walk to the deer stand, I can hear the rustling of the grass behind me as it pops back up after we walk on the grass. I am always paranoid thinking it could be a coyote chasing me, and preparing to bite at my heels. I have always had that fear since my grandpa told me coyotes will run after you through the woods. My dad walks in front of me, so I grasp the glimmering flashlight tightly.…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…
