In high school I ran track and cross country. Almost every workout we were given our mile time coach wanted us to run. The next question would be what are the quarter mile splits. My team learned rather quickly to turn to the quiet freshmen to work out the math. It was just something I naturally would do when hearing a mile time. I always knew I liked math but I was never sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. When asked this question I would express how I was not sure but it would involve math somehow.
