Personal Narrative: Tiffin House

In 84 Woodcrest Road here in Georgetown, Texas, you will find not one, but two beautiful built homes surrounded by bright green trees where the wind blew the leaves and make them dance playfully across the beautiful watered dark green grass. Tiffin house was built in the year 2008 where employees work to take care of residents with alzheimers and dimentia. Here at Tiffin House i got to see how the house looks, talk to a few employees, and talk to the director on how the house flows and works. I walked in the first house called Tiffin House I, and when I first stepped inside i see a beautiful granite kitchen and a home like dining room table. I walked into the living room I suppose to call it, and I see residents sitting in recliners and sofas relaxing to the sound of calm Godly music coming from the old looking radio from the corner. I keep walking around and it's not just an ordinary nursing home, it actually feels like a big giant house with a bunch of bedrooms! I walk across the hallway from the kitchen and I see about 9 bedrooms; in each bedroom the residents havea queen size bed, light brown drawers, and their own big closet where their …show more content…
Happy birthday to miss..." is what I heard when I walked in. I came just in time for someone's birthday to celebrate. The house felt like you were at grandmas' house because you get a good wift of smell of some delicious homemade pot of stew it made my mouth so watery. At Tiffin House II is not much of a difference like Tiffin House I; the housse is just twice as big with 12 bedrooms instead of 9. On the walls just like in Tiffin I, theres a handful of pictures of pets, children working, fishing, and farm houses. Also, they have a T.V in the living room and a "play room" where there's a bunch of activities like bingo, dominos, arts and crafts are stored in. The residents seemed nice and friendly when you walk up to them and smile hi to them and so do the

Explain the irony of John Wright's name and the way he died. John Wright was not “right”, at least for Minnie Wright. Ironically, he died the same way, by being strangled.…

The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…

All the years I’ve lived on Elm Street I have never seen any sign of life in the house across the street, except a family that moved in and moved out only a few weeks later. It’s kind of mysterious actually, and I’ve always wanted to go up to it and walk in to explore. My parents have told me the things they have heard about the house, like there was an “old man whose wife passed away right there in the house, and her spirit still lurks”, maybe that’s why the families have never stayed for more than a month. Sometimes I’ve even caught myself staring at the house from my top window trying to spot things. I want to uncover the real truth about the house that I find myself overwhelmed.…

Throughout my life, I have been the victim of several burglaries. At the age of seven, someone, in broad daylight, broke into our house and shot my dad in the chin. I was displaced to my aunt's house for weeks and missed most of my 1st grade year. When I was seventeen, I walked in on my home being robbed by some local kids. They were upstairs when I came into the house and escaped through a window, but the idea that I could have come home earlier still haunts me.…

Wallpaper With a Thousand Words “The Yellow Wallpaper” is an important story, but digging has to be done to see so. The author Charlotte Perkins displays a feminist interpretation in an impressive way. Her use of metaphors brings out the true meaning behind this story. The wallpaper represents the way women are treated in our society, and the author tells a story of a “madwoman” to represent this overall theme. The house is the whole backbone to the story and is a one of the metaphors used.…

The Younger's Family in Lorraine Hansberry's play A Raisin in the Sun, have faced many hardships in 1950s America. In the play, Hansberry writes about a family on the south side of Chicago, in a beat up, old apartment that is about as tired and worn out as the Younger’s are. The Younger Family goes through many trials and tribulations that are best represented by the symbolism with their tiny one window, the plant, mama's gifts, and the condition of the old and new house. The condition of the old house is tired and worn after many generations of the Younger’s living in their tiny “two” bedroom apartment.…

Elderly people have always held a special place in my heart, so I wanted to do my field work in a nearby nursing home that I had never visited. I set out to learn about the quality of life that elderly people had in the nursing home and what contributed to that quality, either good or bad. I called ahead to get permission to do this assignment and get access to various areas of the building. I did not give a specific time or day so that I could ensure as natural setting as possible with no special accommodations from the home.
