I Believe
I believe that there is no tooth fairy,or santa clause,or leprechaun,or easter bunny. There is no such thing as those simulated,Imaginary folktales. Just like one time earlier in my age about when I was three or five…..kids were super excited when they lose their teeth. They would say “The tooth fairy is going to my house…..I am going to be rich!!!!” I of course thought…. what the heck are they talking about. My parents always tought me at this age that the tooth fairy and the other charcters of tale where not real. When I lost a tooth in school I thought “Cool a tooth,” but other kids thought I would get some easy cash.During Christmas there was no santa for my brother and I.We knew that our parents would do the wrapping and shopping.Of course other kids later say, “ SANT CAME TO MY HOUSE!!!!!.”I knew better and ended up getting in trouble saying to a kid santa isn't real. Instead of a I know response the poor fellow whinned to the teacher leading my to trouble. Days went by and it was the annual winterfest. Walking in the tree-lit festival my parents decided to make my brothers and I take a picture with a man who was dressed like santa. As we were going in line to take the picture I’m not paying any

The nice lady in a elf costume took the picture. I thought (In my mind)” Hey I should be getting a present from the jolly fat man….. Should I.” Well…..all the fat man gave me was a measly coin!!!!!” A COIN!!!!”My reaction was like a bull in a china shop. I threw the coin and in a awkward silence the coin bounced of the jolly fat man’s face. My parents shocked and the the other people were shocked as well.Of course I was too little to understand that it was not polite to throw things as santa. That experience has changed my perspective on the jolly fat man…...and that is he’s fake!!!!!!!! Many kids like some of yourself still believe in these fairytales. But they are not true. Soo this is what I believe

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

I began my collegiate career at the age of 22 after working in the restaurant industry for 5 years. I began taking history classes while attending Long Beach City College and noticed the lack of representation in the professors who taught the courses. I also noticed the underrepresentation of people of color in the various textbooks in regards to modern Europe. Being a Latino male who comes from a low income background I began to question my involvement in school due to family and work obligations.…

One of the most intriguing and intellectual experiences of my life was searching for a senior quote. After much deliberation, I settled upon one by Albert Einstein, “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” This quote was one which provoked more thought and philosophical reasoning than any other I have encountered in my life. I began to realize that, in truth, objective reality is a figment of our imaginations. It is an unattainable ideal that humans will never reach.…

Perhaps some of you have heard of me. My husband, James J. Braddock, became the number one heavyweight champion in the world just a few days ago in a fight against Max Baer. I consider myself and my family to be extremely lucky and I can only give my thanks to those that supported my husband. To my knowledge, Jimmy is now being referred to as the “Cinderella Man” because of his amazing recovery.…

There are many lessons to be learned in life, lessons which are learned through conversations, mishaps, and great experiences. One experience I had was a little bit of all three. It was a conversation, started wrong, but nevertheless ended up being a great experience in which I learned an important lesson, that there are times to give up, and times to not give up, and sometimes even though giving up might seem like the right option, not giving up can lead to great success. My senior year of High school was hectic. Not only did I have the stress that comes from school work, I also started working too, to hopefully get some experience, and also, have some change in my pocket.…

I’ve always had the impression that fairytales were innocent stories of finding true love and living happily ever after, like the way Disney depicted them to be. I never thought about where these stories came from and the different themes and symbols that were relevant of that time. Some of the things I’ve learned about fairytales have not only shocked me, but has also made me reevaluate everything I know about fairytales. Something I never knew about fairytales is that they weren’t always for children. I’ve always associated them with a younger audience so thinking that these stories were written for adults enjoyment is really crazy to believe.…
