Personal Narrative: Theater

Improved Essays
It's 5:00 on a cold Tuesday. It's my favorite part of the day; theater. I quickly get ready, grabbing my script and running out the door. Since I had rushed to get ready, I had forgotten my jacket. I get to theater at around 5:40, 20 minutes early as per usual. I sit in my seat and wait, shivering. I sit there for 5 minutes, progressively getting colder until Aj walks through the door, waving at me. I smile at him, waving back with one hand while I rub my arm with the other. "Destiny, you seem cold, are you alright" Aj says, walking up to me and sitting down next to me.
I nod my head. "I'm fine, thanks, I just forgot my jacket" I chatter out, my voice stuttering. Aj frowns sightly, taking off his jacket and putting it around my shoulders.

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…
