Personal Narrative: The Worst Softball

Improved Essays
The Worst Softball Experience Around the year 2008 I had made my decisions to play softball. Yes I had played tee ball and coach pitch, but this was the real thing. That year I was turning six. Usually you can’t start softball/baseball until your six but since I was in first grade I was allowed to play. I lived in Philomath, where I had lived my whole life. Years had passed, and I had been playing softball all those years.
When it came down to about 7th grade I was a more experienced player, and by that time I had found my favorite position. It was the catcher's position. I loved that position so much because I was good at it and it made me the “boss” of the field. The first few practices were great, but after a few games and winning all of them my coach got meaner and worked us harder. She

I took a strike and my count was 2 strikes and 3 balls. I hit the ball to left field. That was so exciting.
After three wins the day felt like it was over. It wasn't even noon. So we played one more before our “lunch” break. I was so tired, weak in the knees, I was really badly dehydrated, but I made a commitment and i had to keep it. That whole game I caught, hit, caught, and hit some more. Finally that game was over.
During the break I couldn’t eat or drink but I felt like passing out. My coach game me a lecture about how good I was doing and about how it was almost over (we still had three more games) and I needed to keep pushing. So I did. At the next game I was pail in the face and wasn't very steady on my feet, but I did it. I thought I was going to faint because I was so hot and dehydrated. Did I mention it was about 100 degrees at that time, anyway our pitcher threw the ball to me I couldn't see it and it hit me in the face.
Got a bloody nose and I felt like I had just died we took about 15 minutes and then I was ready. Coach didn't want to put me back in but I had

First Home Run The pitcher steps on to the mound and is ready to pitch, and whoosh in comes a fastball and crack the way I hit the ball sounded like banging a hammer on a piece of metal and as I took off running I watched the ball sail out of the park for my first home run. I stared in at my catcher, Drew Wessel, beads of sweat fell off my forehead. It was the bottom of the sixth and we were one out away from winning the World Series, he flashed me a two which meant curveball. I checked the runner, got my grip on the ball, and checked the runner again. I lifted my leg and let go of the ball. We were the last game of the tournament, it was August 1st and the daylight was just starting to slip behind the Rocky Mountains in center field.…

At 6:00 we started to field ground balls, The field was dry and it was a little bit rocky so the ball would take weird bounces. Don’t even get me started about the outfield, The outfield had long grass, little holes and the ball would take weird hops just like the infield. Then we started to play six out baseball, nothing really happened till the third round when my team was up to bat. I hit a line shot that one hoped to the fence. I was first and the feeling came back to me.…

Everybody has an Uncle Leroy. My Uncle Leroy shows up at Thanksgiving and touches on the drumstick before the turkey makes it to the table. He prefers the drumstick on the right side as the creature faces to the south with cornbread stuffing packed firmly between its legs. In general, you try not to look at my uncle’s face and big belly when he grins or laughs. His eyebrows are uncontrolled, bushy and seem to have a life of their own.…
