“The Woods”
Today was finally the day I was going to go to the woods and adventure with some friends. I had been looking forward to this day since all the way from January. It was now February and I had already packed a week before. I was now on my way to Gary’s house. Mike and Ben had already arrived there before me. “Finally your here” said Gary with a mad look. He was always the impatient one in our group. It was 3:50 pm and we had planned to be in the woods by 3:30 so I could understand why he was mad. Mike and Ben didn’t really care that I was late. “Mom let's go Jacobs here now” said Gary rushing. As his mom came out of the house, we all hopped in her car and headed off to the woods. Meanwhile on our way there, a radio station was talking about an escaped prisoner in low volume but who just wants to hear that when we’re about to have fun.

I Guess Ben liked this song to because right when I was about to ask her to turn up the volume, he beat me to it. About an hour passed already and we had finally arrived at our destination at about 4:40. I was already excited about going to the woods and adventuring with my friends but I didn’t think I could get more excited by just looking at the tall trees and the bright green grass. About every 10-20 feet was trees and grass. Probably about 75% of the trees were 50-80 feet high. The others were about 20 feet taller than

A Taste of Domesticity in Stokes State Forest Throughout my four years of high school, I had never had a friend come back from a post-prom weekend in Wildwood and describe to me what sounded like a “good time.” The stories they told always had the same synopsis that centered around drunken fun and even drunker stupidity. Hordes of juniors and seniors slept in small dirty motel rooms. They spent way too much money on alcohol, and they often got swindled into paying hundreds of dollars to stay in an otherwise dirt cheap motel because no decent place would allow teenagers to party like they did. They sat in their hotel rooms and drank the beautiful New Jersey beach days away, waiting for the sun to set so they could continue their drunken…

There’s a little slice of Heaven in Marshall, Texas, where the sun shines through the pines and the sound of cicadas serenade you throughout your afternoon and the lake shines like a plate of polished silver in the early morning sun. When I first came to Camp Fern, I was on my own. Everyone else had known each other for at least two years, so I was the odd one out. In my cabin there was the usual sort. There was the popular one, the attention seeker, the joker, and the one you love to hate.…

It was a cold bitter night on the 1st of December in 2012. I decided to try out a new hunting spot for the first time. I knew that it was going to be much colder because i did not have any walls around me to protect me from the brutally cold wind. The temperature gauge read a bone chilling 5 degrees, and i knew that it was only going to get worse as the day came to an end. I made sure to wear extra clothes and to dress in layers for the long five hours that I have ahead of me sitting up against a tree.…
